Afternoon campers ⛺️☀️

A quick note to let you know we have updated our page name to be "Great Western Campground" rather than "Great Western Racing & Recreation Reserve".

This name change reflects the primary purpose of this page in connecting our travelling community with our campground facilities and amenities. The grounds are managed by the Great Western Racing & Recreation Reserve Committee of Management (COM), auspiced under the Department Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).

Other than the page name change, nothing else has changed. You can still book powered and unpowered sites all year round. Our amazing onsite caretakers are still here and ready to welcome you. And as always, we're here to make your stay in Great Western and your time visiting the Grampians region as special as it can be. We'll see you soon!

GRAND FINAL WEEKEND - No powered sites available.

Just letting our travelling community know there are no powered sites available over the Grand Final weekend on September 27 & 28. We do have unpowered sites available though so please get in contact if you’re planning to stay with us.

Happy Sunday travellers 😊

In order to ensure our grounds are safe for everyone, we kindly ask that you maintain a speed of 20km when entering and navigating around our reserve.

We often have families staying with us, or have people hosting events in our function space, or have people stop to stretch their legs when travelling with animals, so want to ensure everyone's safe whilst visiting our facilities regardless for how long they stay for. It can also get a little dusty at this time of year and no one likes a layer of dust across their camp, so let's all do our bit to minimise that too.

ATTENTION CAMPERS

We have recently completed maintenance on our primary entry roads to resolve some drainage challenges. This has resulted in some of them becoming quite soft under foot & car following this week's rain.

To avoid any travellers encountering boggy areas & possibly undo the work we've just done, can we please ask that you camp along the racecourse in the yellow highlighted area. This accessible via both the Moyston Road entry & Garden Gully Road entry if you follow the yellow highlighted road ways.

The road way highlighted in red & accompanying camping area highlighted in red are the areas to avoid for the moment please.

The toilet & shower block are still accessible and only a short walk from the designated yellow area. Please follow the pink highlighted walkway to get there.

If your staying at the Reserve this Kings Birthday weekend we’ll have your outdoor fires sorted.

We have bags of wood 🪵 for sale @ $25 each and they come with firelighters and paper to aid in lighting. We also have fire pits for hire @ $10 each 🔥

One of our usual access points via Moyston Road is closed for the next couple of months, therefore people must enter via our Garden Gully Road entrance. Please ensure you’re familiar with this entry point before arriving.

We welcomed the Ballarat and Dristict 4x4 Club over the weekend and what an awesome bunch of people ! A big thank you goes out to Monique Mitchell for her amazing communication skills with the booking side of things. The guys gave our little town and surrounding area a good going over during their stay which is what we love to see. 🫶🏻All the guys left their campsites spotless as well ! Great people !
