We stand with our neighbours from Navarre Football Netball Club today as they heroically play in a number of Grand Final matches under incredibly challenging circumstances.

Our heart goes out to all their players, coaches, members, community connections, and most importantly, Zanaiya’s family and friends.

We are a close knit community in these parts, and tragic events such as this touch the hearts of all of us and remind us how connected we are.

Good luck today netballers. Some of us will be there in the crowd cheering you on 💛💚🤍

🔴🔵🟡 2027 COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT

🦁 WELCOME SCOTT DRISCOLL 🦁

The Great Western Football Netball Club is thrilled to announce Scott Driscoll as our Senior Playing Coach for the 2027 season.

Scott brings an impressive coaching, playing and leadership background, including senior coaching roles at St Arnaud and Jeparit Rainbow, as well as junior coaching and senior leadership experience at Modewarre and Lake Wendouree.

Scott is no stranger to the Great Western Football Club, having pulled on the Lions jumper for a memorable one-off appearance back in 2015.

Those who were there will remember Scott playing a starring role as Great Western produced a memorable upset over Lake Bolac, with Scott being named clearly best on ground.

Fast forward 11 years, and Scott is back at Great Western — this time ready to lead the Lions as Senior Playing Coach for the 2027 season. 🦁

A familiar face, a new chapter.

🗣️ Scott said:

“I’m really excited to join such a proud, family-oriented club that is determined to regain success. It’s an honour to have the opportunity to guide the playing group in 2027 and build on the foundations laid by Tom and Adam.”

We’re excited to welcome Scott and his family back to the Great Western Football Netball Club and look forward to working together as we build towards a successful 2027 season.

The wonderful team from Jody & Co Catering will be serving us delicious dinner, therefore tickets are required so catering numbers can be confirmed.

Tickets: $45pp online only
Inclusions: Dinner with drinks at bar prices
Location: Great Western Mechanics Institute Hall (on the highway next to the pub/hotel)
Time: 6.30pm arrival for a 7pm start
Attire: Semi-formal, but you're more than welcome to come formal if you like!

It’s that time of year again and with presentation events just around the corner, we are seeking a few remaining trophy sponsors.

It's only $60 per trophy and can be a business, a family, a community group, anyone. We actually have a number of families who kindly sponsor a trophy each year.

Last night was the MDNA - Mininera and District Netball Association’s 2026 season vote count and awards presentation.

A massive congratulations to our senior netballers who all came away with Runners Up trophies including Jacqui Ralph in C Grade, Amy Miller in B Grade and Monique Dowling in A Grade.

A commendable mention to our junior netballers who also polled strongly this season with Lottie McPhan coming third in Under 13s, Kelsey Hurley coming fourth in Under 15s and Ruby Thomas coming third in Under 17s.

Denni Marsh and Violet Day also came away with awards for their performance in the Under 15s and 17s squad teams this season.

Well done ladies. You have all done the club proud.
