We've been a bit quiet recently, but not from a lack of shooting. It's been a long, hot summer but now we're getting to the time of year where the conditions are fantastic in the morning for a shoot.

Big congratulations to Alex who achieved an all gold at 30m this week, I believe it was even the first time he shot the distance! Well done Alex!

This morning the Ararat and Stawell archers planted over 300 native plants into our brand new 'field course' in the Great Western Rec Reserve. The new target course weaves through a beautiful patch of remnant grassy woodland that runs alongside our main shooting field.

This patch has an abundance of native wild flowers, as we saw at our community wildflower walk last spring, but lacked a 'midstory' of flowering shrubs, which is an important part of woodland habitats. So after a bit of w**d control over the summer, today we added 10 different shrub and small tree species that will provide habitat and food for native animals, as well as create beautiful 'obstacles' for our archers to weave between as we practice on our new field course.

Thanks to all the club members who came and helped out, and to the Victorian Landcare Grants for funding the project!

Solid week of achievements this week with 4 certificates going out.

Great effort by Hugh to achieve an all gold at 25 metres, congratulations!

Congratulations to Pete for smashing out a perfect 60 at 50m (on the last end of the shoot, talk about finishing strong).

Mathew and Kenneth rounded things out by both achieving their third class barebow certificates in the same week.

We've been a little quiet lately but there hasn't been a lack of shooting. Congratulations go out to Anita who has been climbing the ranks at blistering speed and this week achieved an all gold at 30m.

The mornings are crisping up a bit now and it's a great time to get into archery. Pop on down any Sunday morning from 10 onwards.

We couldn't have asked for a better morning for our "Wildflower walk / Come and try Archery" day. Big thanks to Elia for a fantastic presentation and guided walk through the wildflowers on the Archery clubs ground. I think everyone walked away with an increased appreciation for our beautiful little field.

It was also great see some new faces at the club and see folks enjoying having a shoot and seeing what archery is all about.

If you couldn't make it down this week, feel free to pop in any Sunday between 10-12am.

Hey folks. Just a reminder that our come and try archery / guided wildflower walk is just over a week away (Sunday 29th). If you, or someone your know, are interested be sure to sign up using the link below. It's going to be a great morning!

The Ararat and Stawell Archers are teaming up with Project Platypus to hold a wildflower appreciation and archery come-and-try day! Yes, that sounds like a strangely random pairing - but there is a reason! The archery club caretakes a beautiful patch of remnant native grassland at their club grounds in the Great Western Racecourse Reserve. Come see some beautiful flowers and get hooked on an awesome sport! All ages welcome.

Something you don't see every day, Tim managing to Robin hood his own arrow! Full points for doing it to your own rather than blowing away someone else's arrow.

Second photo is Tim showing us where he'd prefer both arrows to hit.

Top weather this week, the sun was out and the wind was down. Perfect conditions for a shoot.
