Folkstyle, or collegiate wrestling is widely practiced throughout the United States of America. This style of wrestling is a collaboration of Greco-Roman, Freestyle and Judo. The Wrestling Foundation focuses on the fundamentals of folkstyle wrestling which includes stance positioning, establishing domin

ant control, and learning escapes and reversals. We continuously drill positions and moves in the practice room so they become automatic in a live wrestling situation/competition. There is an emphasis on conditioning, for explosive movement and stamina. Wrestling is not only a sport, but also an effective form of self-defense. Individuals learn how to control their opponent without the use of punching, kicking or submissions. Instead, wrestling uses offense, defense, and timing, to execute maneuvers. It is often asked by athletes/coaches in MMA and JuJitsui, “what sets wrestling apart”? Plain and simple. Wrestlers are taught in the very early stages how to use constant pressure and intensity in order to break down your opponents. It's widely known that many successful MMA fighters today such as Jon Jones, Frank Edgar, Chael Sonnen, Randy Couture, Dan Cormier and Dan Henderson, all have their foundation
in wrestling.

Bring our unique Wrestling system to your Academy and Lock it in the calender! Sunday June 12th we will be running our Level 1 TWF coaching course. If you have a keen interest in wrestling, grappling, mma, and or Rugby you need to be here. This course is a full day event which will launch and equip you to bring wrestling into your program! It’s our first step in becoming an affiliate academy member in the TWF system as well.

We have a Wrestling Scrimmage day scheduled for March 15th at Carioti MMA in Hornsby at 6:30pm

We are collaborating with one of Australia’s finest competitive wrestling teams Spike 22 to gain experience. We will be grouped up by weights and have some fun wrestling and learning from one another.

A big thank you to Carioti MMA for hosting and being a great place for our teams to meet. They are located at 53 Jersey Street, Hornsby.

TWF Students must be at level 2 or higher.

This was a mad session to be apart of. Everyone just working well together to raise the level in the room. Had the honour of working with Australia’s national team head coach Jakub today. What an amazing wrestler and was so great hearing about his pathway and journey through wrestling. Really thankful for the team we are building. Let’s go!!

First week in the new space and we did see some new faces. I have to be real with you all and admit that the classes we not packed out or as busy as per previous. In the past this would really concern me. I know it’s going to take time to rebuild our program on the coast but I believe in what we do and I believe it’s important to focus on the people who do keep showing up! Last night posted an incredibly moving insta post on his experience at our TWF level 1 coaching course. I’ve attached his note to the post. This is what it is all about for me. Let’s keep this ball rolling. Whether you are in our wrestling HQ room or down on the other side of Sydney, we will continue to push, improve, and communicate this message of how important the activity of wrestling can be.
