NOTICE: Gosford Rugby Club Annual General Meeting 2024.

Saturday 16 November 3pm, all welcome.

This will be the final AGM for Gosford Rugby Club. Kariong Wanderers Rugby Club will be having their AGM directly after our AGM, then the new Gosford Kariong Rugby Club inaugural establishment of the Executive Committee and Constitution will be voted in for the 2025 season. All three will be held at Showgrounds club house from 3pm.

All executive and general committee positions for the Gosford Kariong Rugby Club are open with applications being made to [email protected] and [email protected].

A HUGE thank you to our Physiotherapist Cody Frost from who kept our boys on the paddock all year. Cody’s professionalism and work ethic is unmatched, not only turning up every week to strap and manage game day injuries but seeing players in the clinic and following up with them through the week also. Thanks for a great year - bring on 2025 💪🏻

On the back of recognising our Grand Final referees, we now have the pleasure in acknowledging Scott Thornton who will referee his 200th game for the Association this weekend. Congratulations Scott, and thank you for your service, both on and off the field, to Rugby on the Coast and beyond.

Massive congratulations to Gosford Rugby family Leilani Montgomery who made her NRLW Debut for the Gold Coast Titans yesterday against the Cowboys. Unfortunately Lani and her team went down 11-10, however Lani played an excellent game and we are all very proud of her.

Yesterday evening a Special General Meeting was held with current GRC Members and Life Members to vote on the motion of “Member decision on the merger of Gosford Rugby Club and Kariong Rugby Club”.

The vote was a unanimous YES decision. I have spoken with Kariong President and their member merger decision was also a YES outcome. The decision to merge with Kariong has been in discussion since mid 2023 and this year has seen a turning point where change was needed to ensure the survival of both identities past the 2024 season.

There is a CCRU mandate that all clubs who wish to be in the CCRU competition must field 3 men’s and 1 women’s team from 2025, along with minimum junior team numbers from 2026.

This year has not been easy for Gosford Rugby Club given a large number of players retiring the past couple of seasons, and new players not coming through so given our ongoing great relationship with Kariong the member and life member decision was a necessary one to be made.

“This is a historic point in Gosford Rugby Club’s 50 year history and although there will be much change, history doesn’t disappear and both Gosford and Kariong will ensure history and our individual identities remain but as one for the future”

Massive shout out to these three legends! They epitomise what club rugby is all about. People come and go and move on due to other commitments but all three here have ALWAYS been stead fast contributors over the past 50 years.

So gives great pleasure to have awarded them Lifetime Contribution awards in honour of their continued contribution to Gosford Rugby Club.

I loved being tagged recently in this Gosford Rugby Club blast from the past.

Growing up on the Central Coast, I loved playing rugby for the Devils, except for when we played Northlakes.

This photo would have to have been taken about 25 years ago when I was playing first and second grade for the Devils. How's the head of hair on me!

Best of luck in future years - except for when you're playing Northlakes (which of course is in the Shortland electorate).
