RELAXATION DAY
Relaxation is an emotional and psychological sate of mind - it is the physical stillness and calm. It is living without or with reduced stress, tension, pressure for a period of time. Relaxation is usually doing something that elevates the symptoms of depression, anxiety, panic, fear, and anger.
As well as mental health benefits, doing something ‘relaxing’ also improves your physical by lowering heart rate, blood pressure and breathing rate, reducing muscle tension and chronic pain, aids digestion (stress has a huge impact on the gut).
Relaxation comes in many forms and can be very subjective: reading, drawing a bath, lighting candles, a hot cup of tea, a walk outside, playing with your dog, an exercise class, practicing yoga, breathing, cooking, going for a drive… what is relaxing for one person won’t be for another but as long as whatever you are doing slows your mind down and for a period of time takes your mind off of your worries and fears… bringing you into the present, you have found ‘relaxation’.
