This Sunday we shoot for the Club Trophy at the 500m mound.

Conditions are looking favourable, with a light easterly breeze forecast early, building to around 15 km/h as the morning progresses. It should be a great morning on the range.

Over the weekend, Frog, Mia and Pud travelled to Brisbane to compete in the APS Final against some of the best rifle shooters from around Australia.

All three shot exceptionally well throughout the competition, progressing through the various stages and representing the club with distinction.

A special mention goes to Mia, who delivered an outstanding performance to secure 2nd place in F-Open. To finish on the podium against Australia's top shooters is a fantastic achievement and a credit to the hard work and dedication she has put into her shooting.

Congratulations to Mia on a tremendous result, and well done to Frog and Pud for their strong performances throughout the weekend. The club is proud of all three competitors.

The Goondiwindi Rifle Range was the place to be this morning as 15 competitors lined up to shoot for the OK Milk Bar Trophy at the 300m mound.

It was a beautiful winter morning with a light easterly breeze blowing across the range from left to right. Conditions looked ideal, but there was enough movement in the wind with small pick-ups and drop-offs to push shots out of the middle. With the X-ring only about the size of a 50-cent piece, there isn't much room for error.

The first range saw some outstanding scoring with:

• Lowell – 60.7
• Dave – 60.7
• Gary – 60.7
• Al Griffiths – 60.6

all earning possibles. Peter Healy, Peter Ellis and Chris were close behind, each dropping just a single point.

The second range saw the wind pick up slightly, making conditions a little trickier. Even so, five shooters managed possibles for the range. Lowell and Dave led the way with 66.9, Peter Healy shot an excellent 66.8, while Gary and TJ both finished with 66.7. A great effort from TJ in only his third club shoot.

The strong shooting across both ranges earned Lowell, Gary and Dave roosters for the day.

The final tally was incredibly close and came down to centre count. In the end, Lowell took out the OK Milk Bar Trophy with an off-rifle score of 126.16, which became 127.16 after handicap adjustment.

Today we shot for the Tillack Shield from the 800m mound. We had an excellent turnout of 20 shooters, giving us two teams of 10. It was great to see so many shooters on the range.

Conditions were generally favourable, with a steady easterly breeze and a clear sight picture. While the wind remained fairly consistent throughout the day, there was still enough movement in it to catch you out if you weren't paying attention.

The first range saw some great shooting, with Al Griffiths leading the way with a superb 60.9.

Possibles for the first range were:

• Al Griffiths – 60.9
• Jamie – 60.8
• Mia – 60.6
• Dave – 60.5
• Lowell – 60.5
• Bob – 60.5
• Peter Healy – 60.3

Pud, Russell and TJ were close behind, each dropping just one point.

The second range brought similar conditions, although a few small drop-offs caught several shooters out.

Leading the way was Jamie with an impressive 66.8, followed closely by Lowell and Dave on 66.7.

Possibles for the second range were:

• Dave – 66.7
• Chris – 55.6
• Cheryl – 66.6
• Gary – 66.6

Missy, Mia, Bob, Russell, TJ and Charlie were all unlucky to drop just a single point.

Jamie, Lowell and Dave were the only shooters to record possibles in both ranges, earning themselves roosters for the day.

With plenty of strong scores posted across both teams, the result was always going to be close. Once all scores were tallied, it was the Captain's Team that came away with the Tillack Shield.

This Sunday we shoot for the Tillack Shield at the 800m mound.

The Captain and Secretary will select their teams, with off-rifle scores to count and no handicaps in play. The team with the highest aggregate score at the end of the day will claim the shield and the bragging rights.
