As we get ready for the Cannings final at Warwick I can’t help but reflect on some history.
Meet Pixie. The original. The flea bitten grey.
A little pony × Thoroughbred mare, who taught me how to watch my cow on the course - or fall off! 😜
Add a touch of Docs Spinifex and a few more miles on the clock, and it’s the same heart and try in Banshee Fantasy.
Three generations later, that same heart and determination still shines through in the likes of Banshee Peter Pan ❤️.
My 6yo daughter rides Snow White, we have had great success with Mini Moore and then we see Merlin and Puss in Boots doing amazing things in the hands of others. All that same bloodline.
We’ve always believed in breeding horses that have more than talent. They must have honesty and integrity. We back the mares that give you absolutely everything they’ve got, every single time.
The mares with grit, heart and an undeniable will to try. The ones that might not have the fashionable pedigrees, but have something you simply cannot put on paper.
And when you find those qualities, you breed to preserve them.
Because a pedigree tells you where a horse comes from, but it doesn’t always tell you what’s in its heart.
Sometimes the greatest reward in breeding isn’t just what you produce, but seeing the very qualities you believed in shine through, generation after generation. 🤎
