Recapping the season so far from our Intagolf Div 3 seniors āš¾šŸ©µšŸ™ŒšŸ«ˆ

We've been happy to welcome back Zoe Stiff (nee Murphy) back to the Club as the manager of this team, which is a blend of new comers, experienced veterans, and up-and-coming juniors.

Rounds 1 and 2 against Falcons and Rangers were both tight matches, going down to the final few minutes. In both games East took back the lead in the top of the final, but innings weren't completed in time so scores reverted. We also welcomed back Ryan to the field, who was an important part of the batteries these first two weeks, usually pitching to Todd, an absolute beast behind the dish.

The team's first win came in Round 3, against our Div 4 squad. But they had to work hard for it. Inaccurate pitching let the team down until Zak BB took the pill and took control of the game. The 3s edged their way back into the match and came away with a narrow victory.

Round 4, Donny Day saw Nigel start the game on the hill, and it was an immaculate performance to honour his mate. By week 4, the team was starting to gel, and everyone in the line-up started to shine. Rhys was probably 10m short of the right field fence with his first hit, and defensively, Phoebe and George in RF showed a true team spirit and hustle that gave East a huge advantage. East ended up winning this one 12-6, setting up a sweep for Donny Day.

Rounds 5 and 6 against Scots and Falcons showed this team's true strength coming home with two huge wins. Strong pitching from Sioeli and Nigel were highlights where only 3 runs scored against us in two weeks.

Our Thirds are currently playing like no 'C Grade' team we've ever seen, and their season continues tomorrow against Rangers at Quarry Hill.

Recapping the season so far from our Intagolf Div 4 seniors āš¾šŸŽ‰šŸ©µāœØ

This is the first season with a fourth division in the Bendigo league, and it's providing a great opportunity for players to develop skills in a friendly, supportive environment with lots of fun vibes.

Round 1 was a close match-up against Dodgers. Josh was playing his first game for East, starting on the mound and did a great job. We had a steady stream of runs throughout the game through good team hitting. Jess, Aimee, Imogen, Ingrid and Sean were all great with the bat. East finished with a narrow loss, but it was a positive start to the season.

After a forfeit in Round 2 from Rangers, our 4s had the challenge of facing up against the East Div 3 team. On paper, many ruled our 4s out. But baseball isn't played on paper. The 4s took control early in the game because of disciplined batting, incredible team energy, and a solid performance from Zacch as the starting pitcher. They got edged out in the final inning by only a couple of runs, but this game showed everyone that this is a team of winners.

Following from this energy, the team got a big win against Dodgers in Round 4 as an unofficial extension of Donny Day. We had Zak BB on the hill pitching to Luke, a strong start which got us an early lead. Dodgers were chiseling their way back when Jessay took the ball in the final innings. After a shaky start, she struck out a batter with bases loaded for the first out. In the next play, Josh snagged a line drive at third base, which also caught the base runner stuck down the path. Game over, East win! A historic victory which marked 4 senior wins in the weekend.

Rounds 5 and 6 were against Rangers 3s and 4s, two strikingly similar teams who dished out a couple of losses. East came home with a few impressive highlights though, like excellent hitting from George, Jeremey and Aimee, and an innings-ending double play from George and Imogen.

The team continue their season this week against Dodgers at Quarry Hill.

After our long-weekend break, let's recap on the season so far from our T-ballers!

We have 11 enthusiastic t-ballers who have been doing great with live coach pitching on game days. All the kids have been performing well, but the highlight of the season was undoubtedly the Friday night game accompanied by a delightful sausage sizzle.

The season continues this weekend, and the next Friday night game is next week, 19 June.

After the weekend off from club baseball in Bendigo, let's recap our season so far for our Intagolf Div 2 seniors.

It was a shaky start to the season in Round 1 going up against Scots, a strong opponent. A couple of close calls didn't go our way, and we were trailing with a big margin early on. Archer and Ajay threw this game, kept patient and worked hard which allowed us to crawl back into the game, eventually hitting the visiting pitcher off the mound. The comeback fell short though, losing 9-11.

The 2s bounced back in Round 2 with a strong win over Rangers at home. Ethan and Huddo earned the starting battery for this one and were backed up with relentless team hitting from start to finish.

In the Round 3 East derby, sloppy fielding didn't help us at the start of the game. But the second half of the match was far more competitive - a 2-2 scoreline for most of the game. Sioeli helped steady the ship on the mound and Gibbo provided some oomph with the bat.

Our 2's had a thriller against Dodgers for Donny Day. Despite Archer's efforts on the mound, base-running was a weakness and East had trailed 3-5 going into the last. A lead-off homer from Kaileb set the tone for our last chance, and eventually it was Trent who drew a walk to walk it off 6-5.

Round 5's match-up against Falcons was a bit of a mixed bag. Archer put the team on his shoulders, but we left too many runners on base. There were a few glimpses of brilliance in the line-up, including a long outfield hit from Jimmy Bray which bounced off the fence. But East fell apart in the field late in the game, going down to Falcons 12-5.

After a forfeit from Rangers in Round 6, East 2s are now 3-3 for the season, but with plenty of signs of life. The squad is full of young talent and plenty of depth. Stringing together 2 hours of cohesive baseball will be the key to success moving forward.

After the weekend off club baseball in Bendigo, let's recap our season so far for our Intagolf Div 1 seniors.

Our season started off on an exciting note against Dodgers at home. Dodgers got off to a strong start getting an early 6-1 lead. We spent the rest of the game playing tight infield D, turning 3 double plays, and inching back into the game run-by-run. East were down by 2 in the bottom of the last, and managed to walk it off to win the opener 8-7.

Round 2, we had Falcons away and faced up against some class pitching from young Xavier Gardner. We trailed 2-1 for most of the game, but gave up a couple more runs late in the game that we couldn't recover from. Ricky went 2-2 with the bat, and AJ threw a gem, but other than that not too many highlights.

It was East v East in Round 3 with our new alternate jerseys. Div 1 nicked our 2s' starting ace Archer which gave the 1s an advantage - although Ethan and Sioeli held their own on the hill.

Don Mitchell Day was played in Round 4, with our 1s capping off a perfect day for the Club. Charlie started us off well, and the bats were hot start to finish, especially Brad's. East winning 14-7.

The rematch against Falcons in Round 5 went our way. Walks and HPBs gave us a headstart, but we managed to hold on thanks to another quality outing from Charlie and 4 RBIs, including a homer from Brendan.

We had Scots at home in Round 6 and had Archer on the hill in fine form, with Marcus in relief - a recipe for success. Jimmy Bray picked up 3 hits including a home run in our convincing win.

The 1s are now 5-1 for the season so far, and look to extend this streak against Dodgers in Strathfieldsaye this weekend.

That's a wrap on Donny Day, a special day to reflect and play in memory of one of our Life Members, Don Mitchell.

A very big shout-out to Leona Mitchell for coordinating the event and fundraising efforts, which helped to raise over $2,500 for Cancer Council Victoria (our highest fundraiser yet).

And a big thank you to all our other volunteers who helped out on the day and to Strathfieldsaye Dodgers Baseball Club for being part of the now annual tradition.

This year, Bendigo East won back the Shield, winning the best-of-3 series 3-0. The Intagolf MVPs of each game were:

Div 3: Nigel Close (Bendigo East)
Div 2: Julian Howe (Strathfieldsaye Dodgers)
Div 1: Brad Huggard (Bendigo East)

Both Clubs have grown since the tradition began, and our Div 4 team also played Dodgers at home on Sunday. They also picked up a 10-9 nail-biting win.
