To my fellow Australians, our fighters, and our community,
Standing beneath our Australian flag, and looking out at a community brought together through combat sports, I felt a pride that is difficult to put into words.
I am proud to be an Australian Veteran. I am proud to be an Australian fight promoter. And I am deeply proud to have the opportunity to serve my country and community through both chapters of my life.
My time in uniform helped shape the values I carry today: loyalty, courage, discipline, mateship and a sense of responsibility to the people beside me. Those values continue to guide me whenever I coach a student, support a fighter or bring our community together through BEAST Championship.
To me, being Australian means having a go. It means rolling up your sleeves, standing by your mates and finding the strength to take another step when life knocks you down. It means appreciating what others have sacrificed for us and accepting our own responsibility to leave something worthwhile for those who follow.
That spirit lives in our martial artists.
Behind every fighter who steps into the ring or cage are countless hours of training, personal sacrifices, setbacks and moments when giving up would have been easier. There are coaches giving their time, families making sacrifices and small clubs working tirelessly to help someone realise their potential.
That is where the heart of Australian combat sports beats: at the grassroots.
As a promoter, I have the privilege of giving that hard work a stage. A place where local athletes can test themselves, develop their skills and feel the pride of representing their club, their town and the people who believe in them.
Every opportunity we create can become a turning point. A young person finds direction. A quiet student discovers confidence. A fighter earns the chance they have worked towards for years. Someone who has struggled to feel they belong finds a team that welcomes them and holds them to a higher standard.
That is a responsibility I take personally.
I want to showcase the strength and resilience of Australian martial artists, the indomitable will to fight, the courage to step forward, the discipline to prepare properly, the humility to learn and the respect to shake hands when the contest is over. These are qualities we can be proud to pass on to the next generation.
And when our community comes together around those athletes, something powerful happens. Families, veterans, businesses, volunteers and supporters all become part of their journey. Local people back local dreams. Friendships grow. Our community becomes stronger because we have shared in something that matters.
Looking out from beneath that flag, I saw people worth working for. I saw the reason to keep building, keep creating opportunities and keep putting my heart into this.
My service began in uniform, and my commitment to Australia continues in the work I do every day.
I will always be proud of this country. Proud of those who have served it. Proud of our fighters, our families and the people who turn up and contribute without asking for recognition.
Through BEAST Training Centre and BEAST Championship, I will keep doing my part to build grassroots combat sports, honour the effort of our athletes and bring our community together.
For our country. For our community. For the next generation coming through.
With pride and respect,
More than a fight. Itโs a family. ๐ฆ๐บ
