We always hear things like
✨it’s so important to set aside some ‘me time
✨we must love ourselves first before we can love others,
✨give to others from the overflow of your cup
& so forth…
But what we don’t often hear about is the discipline required to do these things.
You don’t need discipline to press snooze, eat maccas, or watch Netflix
But you definitely need discipline to perform genuine acts of self-love like exercise, eating nutritious foods and journaling.
Who agrees?
Self love comes from disciplining yourself to workout, eat well and get good quality rest even when you don’t feel like doing so. That is true self love - knowing that you are worth the short inconvenience and discomfort taking those actions takes, so that you can reap a long, healthier more fulfilling happy life in the long term.
