A couple of weeks ago, my Tuesday & Thursday afternoon training partner said she was no longer able to make our training sessions due to a change in her schedule. We started training together beginning of Feb with a goal to get our hearts and lungs stronger and fitter (especially as we have now got to that age where thinking of our hearts is important ❤️) and to lose weight. We built up our fitness to run 6.6km's and do an hour's strength training while our boys were doing their swim squad training. Now, I am not a runner and I find it so boring, however, with my good friend and training partner - this time flew by as it was a time to connect and talk and solve our world issues 👏. So you can imagine how devestated I was when I knew I had to do this boring running thing on my own.

However, yesterday while I was doing our normal route on my own - I realised that I needed to change my mindset and attitude to running and the way to do that was to set myself a new goal. Last year I completed the 30km Coastrek on the gorgoues Noosa Coastline in support of Beyond Blue and raising some funds for Mental Health. A couple of weeks later, I walked another 30km's along our magnicificent Gold Coast beach with my sister (whom was unable to do the Coastrek due to contracting Covid the day before the walk).

So my goal is to do this 30km beach walk every year in June for my own mental health and happiness. Not much time to train, however, with a new goal to complete 30km beach walk within the next two weeks has left me feeling motivated, inspired and excited this glorious Friday morning in paradise.

This morning's business Q&A reminded me that gratitude and attitude are important factors in achieving personal and professional success and fulfillment. Choosing to approach every opportunity with positivity can have a huge impact on motivation and performance, both individually and as part of a team. This week I had the privilege of sharing my passion and knowledge of motivation & the importance of building intrinsically motivation in order to achieve greater success with the Y12 young men of MOB Academy.

My experience this week reminded me that constantly bribing our children to get them to do things is building extrinsically motivated young adults. Greater success in achieving our goals requires intrinsic motivation. It's time to shift our focus from extrinsic motivators to intrinsic motivators if we want to see our children grow up to be strong, independent and resilient adults. At The Growth Hub, we believe by nurturing their passions and instilling a powerful mentality, parents can raise young adults who are eager to tackle challenges head-on and achieve their goals without the need for external incentives.

There is no perfect and the pursuit of perfection is only hindering our progress towards becoming our authentic selves. This means others are not perfect either ❤️. Our goal should be always to be real - this is where we will allow ourselves to flourish and find our purpose.

Isn't this the truth and the older my child gets, the more I wish there was a manual to ensure I don't mess up. Even though being a mother means getting it wrong alot and wanting so badly to be right - it also means that despite the trials, tribulations and exhaustion from playing the bad cop; motherhood is ultimately a gift. It's a gift that tests us, strengthens us and shows us true compassion. It is the best thing I have ever become, the greatest love I have ever felt and definitely the best part of who I have become.

The best job I have is being a Mother!

I thought it was a mother's job to teach her child, however, my son teaches me so much everyday. He reminds me that authenticity is the only way to be. That we do not argue but just have different perspectives. Not to judge as everyone has their own story.

So this morning, on our way to school drop off, my son asked me in a panic what I wanted this Sunday for Mother's Day - I had to remind him that I already have everything in him and no commercialised gift could come near to the gift he gives me everyday of respecting his elders, doing his best with enthusiasm, not taking what he has for granted and loving so unconditionally.
