🏏 THE FIRST CHAPTER OF 2026/27 BEGINS… 🧡💙

Every season has a story.

New challenges. New faces. New opportunities. New moments that haven't been written yet.

And this Saturday, the first chapter of Runaway Bay's 2026/27 season begins. 🐦🏏

For the first time under new Head Coach Gareth Roberts, the Bay Seagulls take the field for two T20 clashes at Sam Loxton Oval.

🕤 Game 1 – 9:30am
🆚 Palm Beach Cricket Club

🕑 Game 2 – 2:00pm
🆚 Southport Labrador

There has been plenty happening behind the scenes.

Gareth has been working hard with the group throughout preseason, introducing a new Bay game plan and setting the standards for the cricket we want to play this summer.

There's a different feel around the group.

New coach. New players. New ideas. And plenty of hope about what this season could become.

We believe we've got an exciting mixture of youth and experience, and under new T20 captain Talha Anis, the boys will get their first opportunity to show exactly what this new-look Bay side can produce.

But this weekend isn't about where the story finishes.

It's simply where it begins.

Two games. One day. A new season. And the first opportunity for Gareth and his Bay Seagulls to make their mark. 🔥

So get down to Sam Loxton Oval, Runaway Bay, grab a spot on the hill and get behind the boys as they walk onto the field for the first time in 2026/27.

🏏🔥 SEPTEMBER HOLIDAY CRICKET CAMP AT THE BAY! 🔥🏏

Looking for something your young cricketer will LOVE these school holidays?

The Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to launch our September Holiday Cricket Camp, led by our High Performance Batting Coach Johnathon Dalwood! 🏏💪

This is a fantastic opportunity for boys and girls aged 8–16 to spend the day developing their cricket, learning new skills, building confidence and — most importantly — having a heap of fun! 🙌

Johnathon brings a wealth of high-performance coaching experience, having recently worked within the Kent County Cricket environment in England alongside first-class and international cricketers. 🌍🏏

Now our young cricketers get the opportunity to learn from him right here at The Bay! 🧡💙

This season, Wednesday nights belong to our juniors. 🙌

All our teams will be training together, creating a fantastic atmosphere where our young cricketers can:

🚨 A HUGE COACHING APPOINTMENT FOR THE BAY 🚨

💙💛 WELCOME JONATHAN DALWOOD – HIGH PERFORMANCE BATTING COACH 🏏🔥

Runaway Bay Cricket Club is incredibly excited to welcome Jonathan Dalwood to The Bay as our High Performance Batting Coach for the 2026/27 season.

And this is much more than another coaching appointment.

This is a statement about where The Bay is heading. 📈

Jonathan has just returned from his second successive year working with Kent County Cricket Team in England, immersed in a high-performance environment alongside first-class cricketers, including current England internationals. 🏴

Last year, Jonathan also worked as a batting coaching consultant with the Wellington Firebirds men's first-class team in New Zealand, again working alongside some of the best batsmen in world cricket. 🇳🇿

Now he's bringing that knowledge to The Bay. 💙💛

Jonathan brings current modern batting knowledge, elite coaching methods and first-class experience, combined with a genuine passion for developing players and helping them reach their full potential.

He will work closely with Head Coach Gareth Roberts as we continue to build a coaching and development program designed to give our players opportunities rarely seen at community cricket level.

Because that's what we're trying to build at Runaway Bay.

From our juniors coming through the pathway to our senior players wanting to take their game to another level, we want every player at The Bay to have the opportunity to improve.

💙💛 FROM LITTLE SEAGULL TO HEAD COACH 💙💛

Some stories come full circle.

Today, Runaway Bay Cricket Club is incredibly proud to announce Megan Roberts as our new Head Women's Coach for the 2026/27 season. 🏏

Megan's journey at The Bay began just like so many of our young cricketers...

A little girl in Milo Cricket, full of excitement, learning the game she would come to love. She progressed through our junior ranks, representing the Bay from Under 10s through to Under 14s before earning the opportunity to continue her cricket journey with the Gold Coast Dolphins.

But Megan's story didn't stop as a player.

She came home.

She gave back.

She started coaching our Cricket Blast kids a few yeas ago , inspiring the next generation of young cricketers, and has since developed into one of the Gold Coast's most promising female coaches, now leading representative girls' teams and helping shape the future of women's cricket.

Now, she returns to where it all began as the leader of our women's program.

Megan's appointment is about so much more than naming a coach.

It's a powerful reminder to every girl and woman at our club that there is a pathway. From your very first Cricket session... to representative cricket... to coaching... to leading a senior program.

If you can see it, you can be it. 💙🧡

Making this story even more special, Megan will coach alongside her father, Gareth Roberts, our Head Senior Coach. Together they become what we believe is a first anywhere—a father and daughter leading a club's senior men's and women's programs side by side.

What an incredible example of what family, community and cricket are all about.

Congratulations, Megs! 👏

We couldn't be prouder to have one of our own leading the next chapter of women's cricket at The Bay.
