The Commonwealth Games Baton is an important and special part of Games history and we're seeking suppliers to design and manufacture the Victoria 2026 Baton, which will be held by thousands and viewed by millions on an epic journey across the Commonwealth of Nations.

The Victoria 2026 Baton – the centrepiece of the first King’s Baton Relay – will be grounded in local Victorian materials and be shaped by the knowledge, cultures and histories of Victoria’s First Peoples.

We’d love to hear stories about your past experiences – whether they were Birmingham 2022, Melbourne 2006 or anytime before, during or after.

We’ll have some more information for how you can be involved at Victoria 2026 soon.

Happy National Volunteering Week.

Five years ago, the women's 10,000m final at showed that sport means more than medals.

Australian long distance runners Celia Sullohern, Madeline Hills and Eloise Wellings remained at the finish line cheered on Lineo Chaka from the small African nation of Lesotho as she ran the last three laps by herself and gave her a congratulations hug as she finished more than five minutes behind the winner.

British Virgin Islands won its first Commonwealth Games medal at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games - and it was bright and shiny gold one.

Kyron McMaster’s victory in the men's 400m hurdles five years ago was an inspirational moment for the Caribbean nation at its eighth Commonwealth Games.

It came a year after his coach and mentor Xavier Samuels died in the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma a year earlier.

"I still think and talk about him every day," a tearful McMaster said after his win. "I even got a tattoo (on my inner arm) made of his favourite phrase, which was 'guidance'. Every day I look at it and it acts as motivation."

Kyron McMaster went on to do the double at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Could the British Virgin Islands win the hattrick of medals at Victoria 2026?

Not all champions wear medals.

Introducing North End Bakehouse Shepparton, who dreamed of making the best vanilla slice in Australia. They recently beat 143 other bakeries to take out this top prize in the Baking Association of Australia’s Baking Show held in another of our Games cities, Bendigo, where they scored an almost perfect 97/100.

We’ll stick with the vanilla slice but you can also try their award winning innovative hot cross bun – which includes Vegemite. Shepp locals, any other recommendations?
