🥋 Maishin Judo x Virtue BJJ

Tonight, Maishin Judo Club had the pleasure of joining Virtue BJJ in Southport for a great night of training!

Peter Sensei led the class, sharing a wealth of judo techniques and showing how they can be applied to BJJ.

It was great to see such a strong group of grapplers on the mats at Virtue and everyone getting stuck into the techniques.

A big thank you to the Virtue BJJ team for having us! Hopefully we’ll get the chance to train together again soon 🤝🥋

📢 Saturday Class Schedule Update

We're making a small change to our Saturday morning schedule!

From this Saturday, our morning session will become an Open Judo Class from 9:00am–10:30am, followed by 30 minutes of Newaza Randori from 10:30am–11:00am.

Our Open Judo Class is a regular coached class, but unlike our weekday sessions, it is open to everyone—juniors, seniors, recreational members and competitors are all welcome on the mat. The session will be structured to accommodate all experience levels, making it a great opportunity to train together as one club.

We'll then finish the morning with 30 minutes of Newaza Randori, giving everyone the chance to put their groundwork into practice with live training.

We think this new format will create an even better training environment, with more opportunities for members of all ages and abilities to learn from one another.

See you on the mats this Saturday! 🥋💪

Coaching Update

Due to increased work commitments over the next three months, Scott be stepping back from leading our adult program. During this period, Peter Yeo will take over as Head Coach and will run the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday adult classes.

Peter brings an exceptional level of experience to Maishin Judo Club. He is a 4th Dan Judoka, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, a former British and Australian National Champion, an accredited Judo Australia Senior Coach, and co-founder of the EFFICIENT JUDO Efficient Judo YouTube channel.

Scott will still be at training whenever work allows, but Peter will be responsible for running the program. We have complete confidence in him and know our members will benefit greatly from his knowledge, experience and coaching.

Please join us in welcoming Peter to the role over the coming months. 🥋
