Do you love yourself enough to show up as your authentic self regardless of what other people think of you?
When you refuse to see yourself as you are and are too hard on the person you see in the mirror, you become vulnerable to what other people say about you. When you have a negative outlook on yourself, other people’s judgment will affirm your beliefs and you will take them to be true. 😔
This is why a lack of self-love keeps you trapped in this vicious cycle of opinions and judgment of people. You completely rely on other people’s validation to feel worthy.
And when we’re in the space of self-love, we would know ourselves better than anyone. Even if an authoritarian figure in our life shares their opinion or advice, we can ask ourselves, “does this apply to me or do I need it?”.🤔
But, we often forget this. That’s why when someone passes judgment, we take it as a reflection of our identity.
We now believe we are what we think that they think we are (read that again).
And if this thought is deflating, damaging, and disempowering our self-esteem crumbles.💔
Sometimes, we adjust to these situations by accepting their fictional opinion as a fact about ourselves, especially if we want to feel accepted or avoid conflict.
It encourages us to deprioritize our needs, suppress our feelings, hide aspects of our existence, play a false character and overextend ourselves to keep others happy by denying what’s true to us.
And we start getting this feeling of uneasiness, confusion, and resentment for putting up this façade. After all, we can't keep pouring from an empty cup.🫠
Self-love is accepting every aspect of our existence while acknowledging those parts that need nurturing and extra light with compassion – healing traumas and self-perceived limitations.❤️🩹🦋
And when we do that, we stop letting others move the strings of our life.
How can someone’s opinion of who you are, take your sanity away when you know who you are?😇
You find it easier to let go when you know something isn’t truly aligned with you.🫶🏼
