🙌 WILD GRAVEL NEEDS YOU!

Wild Gravel relies on an incredible crew of volunteers to help keep the day running smoothly, safely and with plenty of good energy.

Over the past two years, the volunteering support has been amazing. People from across the State have put their hands up to spend a few hours volunteering in the spectacular Stirling Range and Wild Gravel simply couldn’t happen without them.

Time to introduce our latest Wild Gravel 2026 Ambassadors! Serene Lee and Elar Kalda Serene Kalda

Serene has a PhD in exercise science, investigating how the menstrual cycle and oral contraceptive use affects cycling performance. She coaches at exercise institute as her ‘passion project’, but her full time day job is an Orthopaedic Research Officer at Perth Hip & Knee

Elar, her better half, or stronger half as she likes to put it, is an IT support engineer at Office Solutions IT .

Both are reigning and repeat national age group gran fondo road champions. Serene is a two-peat elite state gravel champion and has won mt_marshall_gravel_grind , age group and Bike It To Ballidu Gravel etc in the last year while Elar was second at Gravel Grind, Seven age group and Backroads Gravel age group.

Either way, both are no strangers to the Stirling Ranges having ridden the full Wild Gravel course, and hiked the Stirling range ridge walk and three arrows circuit. They’re just adventuring on another one of their notoriously epic (hike-a-)bikepacking trips at the moment but if you’ve any questions about the race, shoot them a message and they’ll talk your ears off when they return!

The big question remains - are they doing the 420 Ultra, or ‘just’ the 150km?

📍 FUN FACT: So… where exactly is Wild Gravel?

Wild Gravel isn’t held in the Gnowangerup townsite — it’s right in the heart of the Stirling Range (Koi Kyeunu-ruff). ⛰️🌿

The Event Village + main Start/Finish line sits on Stirling Range Drive, around 7km west of the Chester Pass Road intersection, surrounded by some seriously spectacular country. It’s about 67km from Albany and roughly 350km from Perth.
