Glenunga Cricket Club was saddened to hear of the passing of life member John 'Bones' Borrett. John was a founding member of Glenunga Cricket Club upon its establishment in 1977, helping provide a place for cricket in the summer in Glenunga, completing the annual sporting calendar following football in the winter.
As an opening bowler, John was a part of Glenunga's first ever club premiership in the 1980-81 season (A5 Division) and followed with a second premiership success in the 1984-85 season (G Division). A titan of contribution to the Glenunga community, John was also heavily involved with the Glenunga Football Club and the Glenunga Sports and Social Club.
Over past years John was a regular attendee on the sidelines, pulling up a chair to watch the cricket at Margaret Bond Reserve, keeping up with how the seasons were going and proudly sharing his knowledge of the history of the club with newer players.
Glenunga Cricket Club extends its condolences to the Borrett family and to members of the Glenunga community who were privileged to share a space in time alongside John.
