Mia Mia 2026

Another one for the kiddos!
We had Bill on Eaglehawk Loki, Tabby on Eaglehawk Fabulous and Ella on Lakevale Toy Trinket in the 40km and Trish riding Barinya Narcooma with Zena on her new pony Alpha Echo in the 20km.

It was Loki's first 40km and he took everything in his stride, behaving perfectly (mostly). Trinket was quite excited/frisky at the start and Ella handled her spicey hind end bounces like a champ. We got to about 10km and a quick shy backwards from the water point landed Ella on the ground however she got back on with a quick snack to cheer up and continued her ride. They had about 15km before the rain started and then boy did it get wet! At one stage Ella and Bill took their glasses off because they could not see from the rain and then later put them back on so the rain wouldnt sting their eyes because it was so heavy driving into their faces 🤣

Zena and Trish started in the rain and just got wetter and wetter. Zena and Echo did a great job and went around nice and steady. Congratulations on their first 20km, I'm sure there will be many more to come

Shout out to the huge effort these little 6yo girls showed with their determination and focus in such awful weather. Their commitment to their ponies and riding shines brightly on weekends like this.

Unfortunately timing with our 40k horses and 20k horses coming in all at once ment Echo's HR fell through the cracks and he didn't get adequate strapping, resulting in a HR VO. All the other horses vetted through perfectly and Echo is very well despite his VO.

Zena and Ella received a vets choice award for their rides, they were both extremely excited and appreciative of their special trophies. Show and tell on monday at school was a hit!

A huge thankyou goes to the ROs for a wonderfulweekend (we know you can't control the weather!) The Vets, TPRs, Checkpointers, sponsors and volenteers. Another well run ride and beautiful course.

There is nothing more effective in breaking a drought than an endurance ride! We hope the local farmers get some relief with the rain 🌱🌾

Eldorado 2026

Trish Riding Barinya Narcooma
Bill riding Silverline Tsunami
Tabby riding Eaglehawk Hercules
Ella riding Lakevale Toy Trinket

Ella's first 40km in 1 leg. With a whopper stack at about 25k in, she dusted herself off, got back on and finished in a time of 3hrs 38.

Unfortunately Bill and Bob had to call the float after Bob pulled up lame at about 28k. Narcooma loved the short little ride and Hercules was confused and a little annoyed he had to go slow and not far enough.

A huge thankyou to the Eldorado RO's, Checkpointers (with Ella's favourite killer python snakes!!!), Vets, TPRs and Volenteers. We had a fantastic mini holiday weekend.

GERZ at Toongabbie!

3 generations, 40kms and happy horses/ponies!
Trish riding Eaglehawk Roak, Tabby riding Eaglehawk Hercules and Ella riding Lakevale Toy Trinket.
Roak and Hercules did a great job after injuries earlier this year that resulted in 2 months stall rest and a 6 month turn out. Little Ella who recently turned 6 and her 12.1h pony Trinket smashed their first ever 40km in 4hrs 9 mins and an average HR of 44.

Zena and Abigail also completed their 5km ride. Zena was riding her new pony Alpha Echo (Micky) and Abigail onboard little Alix the shetland lead by Jake and Mia.

A huge thankyou goes to the GERZ RO's, Sponsors, Checkpointers, and volenteers for a fantastic weekend.

🦄 Halima Update 🦄

Halima has been doing extremely well and is healing beautifully. She is currently displaying very minimal neurological deficits and these will hopefully recover fully in time. Her shoulders and neck are still a bit sore however she has been doing some physio on the walker and has even been out for a little ride. It is pleasing to see the obvious improvements in her from one week to the next. Last week she graduated out of the hospital paddock and is now turned out with the young stock/broodies.
She will now have a little holiday for a few months and hopefully be able to return into work in the new year.

Moyston 2025!

What a beautiful weekend away at the Moyston CFA ride.

This weekend we had Bill riding Lavica Salaa and Ella on Lakevale Toy Trinket in the 20km on Saturday. Trinket wanted to check gravity still worked after a long float trip so unfortunately Ella hit the deck a few kms out, however she bravley got back on and continued riding. They had a bit of time to make up after this and absolutely smashed the rest of the ride in a time of just over 2 hours with their fastest canter recorded at 30km/hr!

Sunday morning saw Trish and Poesie De Galen, Tabby and Barinya Narcooma, Jake and Pureheart Fraggle Rock and Mia and Swani Lovica head out in the 80km.

Unfortunately a few kms out Mia noticed Ali was not himself. Mia was hoping to do her first 80km and although she did not get around, she showed amazing courage and horsemanship to recognise her boy was not right and to make the decision to get a float home. With some fluids and drugs, Ali was feeling alot better after a mild tie up and will make a full recovery. Jake continued on to place 2nd Heavyweight and Trish and Tabby came in 3rd Middleweight.

We would like to say a huge thankyou to the Moyston RO crew, vets, TPRs, CS and CFA volenteers. Another fantastic event, we look forward to next year!

Good luck to everyone competing at Ararat this weekend! Unfortunately we are unable to get there for the first time since 2018 (maybe even earlier??).

Eaglehawk Halima had a horrible accident in the paddock hitting a tree at a gallop 2 weeks ago resulting in multiple skull and open facial fractures requiring surgery and whilst everything is looking positive at the moment she still requires around the clock care unfortunately (or fortunately as she is alive and here to require care).

Good luck to all competitors and thankyou to the Ararat ROs for putting on an event that will no doubt be great!
