Mia Mia 2026
Another one for the kiddos!
We had Bill on Eaglehawk Loki, Tabby on Eaglehawk Fabulous and Ella on Lakevale Toy Trinket in the 40km and Trish riding Barinya Narcooma with Zena on her new pony Alpha Echo in the 20km.
It was Loki's first 40km and he took everything in his stride, behaving perfectly (mostly). Trinket was quite excited/frisky at the start and Ella handled her spicey hind end bounces like a champ. We got to about 10km and a quick shy backwards from the water point landed Ella on the ground however she got back on with a quick snack to cheer up and continued her ride. They had about 15km before the rain started and then boy did it get wet! At one stage Ella and Bill took their glasses off because they could not see from the rain and then later put them back on so the rain wouldnt sting their eyes because it was so heavy driving into their faces 🤣
Zena and Trish started in the rain and just got wetter and wetter. Zena and Echo did a great job and went around nice and steady. Congratulations on their first 20km, I'm sure there will be many more to come
Shout out to the huge effort these little 6yo girls showed with their determination and focus in such awful weather. Their commitment to their ponies and riding shines brightly on weekends like this.
Unfortunately timing with our 40k horses and 20k horses coming in all at once ment Echo's HR fell through the cracks and he didn't get adequate strapping, resulting in a HR VO. All the other horses vetted through perfectly and Echo is very well despite his VO.
Zena and Ella received a vets choice award for their rides, they were both extremely excited and appreciative of their special trophies. Show and tell on monday at school was a hit!
A huge thankyou goes to the ROs for a wonderfulweekend (we know you can't control the weather!) The Vets, TPRs, Checkpointers, sponsors and volenteers. Another well run ride and beautiful course.
There is nothing more effective in breaking a drought than an endurance ride! We hope the local farmers get some relief with the rain 🌱🌾
