For February, we’d like to recognise Alex Braham for the great contribution he’s made to the club over a number of years.

Alex has been a consistent presence both on and off the field, playing a key role as a committee member while always willing to step up wherever needed. As Vets Grand Final captain, he led from the front and did a great job rallying the troops when it mattered most.

His leadership, commitment, and team-first attitude have made a real difference around the club, and it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.

Thanks for everything you’ve put in, Alex, it’s genuinely appreciated!

STC Vets – Grand Final Wrap Up

On Sunday the STC Vets took on Clifton Hill in the Grand Final. Clifton Hill won the toss and sent the boys in to bowl.

The response with the ball was outstanding. A major highlight was Nick Adams striking twice in two balls to be on a hat-trick, but unfortunately it wasn’t to be. Alex Braham also delivered a brilliant spell, taking 2 wickets in 1 over for just 3 runs. The energy in the field was first class, with some great catches taken as the boys worked hard to restrict Clifton Hill to 187.

With the bat, the innings started strongly. Rohan Appleton (37 off 43) and Alex Braham (28 off 38) laid a solid platform at the top of the order, with Rohan dismissed just shy of retirement. A middle-order collapse followed with a few quick wickets falling, before Nick Fennessy came in and began to tee off, finding the boundary regularly on his way to 31 off 40.

Despite the fight, the innings closed at 123 all out.

Although the result didn’t fall STC’s way, it was a terrific effort from everyone who took the field. A great season and plenty to be proud of, hopefully another Grand Final appearance awaits next year.

BASIL NIGHT – PREMIERSHIP REUNIONS & PAST PLAYERS!

Lock it in – Saturday 28th February at Nettleton Park. Formalities kick off from 7:00pm, with the club open earlier.

Join us for a huge night featuring:
• Basil Finnigan Medal count & Calcutta (Rowan Worthy as your MC)
• Premiership reunions – 95/96 3XI & 15/16 T20
• Slow cooked beef rolls
• Raffles, meat trays & joker poker

The 2XI will be playing their last game at Nettleton, so get down early, support the boys and roll straight into what promises to be a cracking night at the club.

STC Player of the Week – Marc Mansour

Huge congratulations to Marc Mansour on being named this week’s STC Player of the Week!

Marc retired on 50 but was called back in and went on to make a brilliant 63 before finally being dismissed. What an effort!

It was a thrilling game against Mont Albert that went right down to the wire, with STC narrowly losing by just 5 runs.

Marc also made a big impact with the ball, finishing with outstanding figures of 3 wickets from 7 overs for just 21 runs.

Last week, Marc and Simon Mansour opened the batting together and put on a fantastic 58 run partnership.

Well done to the Mansour boys, we can’t wait to see what next season brings for them!
