๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’› PLAYER SIGNING ANNOUNCEMENT ๐Ÿ’š

Ashburton Willows is excited to welcome Laura Lund to the club's first-ever women's team for Season 2026/27.

For many around Ferndale Park, Laura is already a familiar face. Whether supporting from the boundary, helping around the club, or cheering on her three sons and husband, Laura has long been part of the AWCC community.

Now it's her turn to pull on the green and gold.

As Laura puts it:

"I can't wait to pull on the Ashy kit and play at Ferndale Park!"

We're thrilled to have Laura join this exciting new chapter in our club's history and can't wait to see her take the field alongside our inaugural women's team.

Bring on Season 2026/27.

๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’› PLAYER SIGNING ANNOUNCEMENT ๐Ÿ’š

The future is bright at Ashburton Willows, with Harvey Patterson committing to the club for Season 2026/27.

Fresh off captaining our Under 16s premiership side, Harvey enjoyed a remarkable 2025/26 campaign, scoring 784 runs across 30 innings at a strike rate of 106.

A talented cricketer, strong leader and great club person, Harvey represents everything we're building at AWCC. We can't wait to see what comes next.

Congratulations Harvey โ€” we're proud to have you continuing your journey in green and gold.

WOMENS T20 SOCIAL CRICKET IS HERE!

This summer, we will be fielding an AWCC Womenโ€™s side in the social T20 competition. Itโ€™s designed to be a very relaxed, supportive and social environment with the aim to welcome and encourage women to get involved.

So to the men of AWCC- please share this news with the wonderful women in your life! And encourage them to have a go!

And to the incredible Women of the Willows- please share with your connections and of course if keen to learn a little more, please let us know.

We will very shortly have more details and key contact points to help in setting up the program and embarking on something we are all extremely excited about.

Itโ€™s happening this summer at AWCC:
Womenโ€™s T20 social cricket!

Get involved and youโ€™ll always get back much more than you ever put in.

SENIOR COACHING PANEL POSITIONS NOW OPEN FOR 2026/27

Whilst many will turn their attention to winter sports and other activities at this time of year, the AWCC Committee continues to work hard over recent weeks, planning for the coming season and beyond.

There are a number of key priorities and it's fantastic to see the energy and contribution of so many keen to ensure our club is set up for success again in 2026/27.

One key ingredient in last season's on and off field success was our Senior Coaching Panel, brilliantly led by Ron Salkowski.

Ron, along with helpers throughout the season including Craig Macdougall, Brendan Foley, Chris Leutton and others, ensured that Senior training was purposeful, productive and outcome-focused.

Along with some other great initiatives, including the Player Handbook, Past Player Guest speakers, Dinners on Thursdays, and Preseason and T20 Practice matches, we saw many players thrive on field. We also saw player numbers and availability improve sharply and a very tangible outcome as all 5 Senior teams made finals.

We have seen feedback and insights from the Player Survey that reiterates the positive momentum these initiatives supported.

Ron, who travelled a long distance multiple times a week, will deservingly scale back his involvement at Tuesday and Thursday training this coming season. With that being said, Ron has nominated for and accepted into a Commitee Position for the coming season - so his presence and contribution will undoubtedly continue to be immense.

So, as we step towards a new season, we are keen to hear from anyone who might have an interest in supporting the club in a Coaching/Training Coordinator capacity.

We will once again be looking to form a collective coaching group to ensure each week we have consistency in resource, but also a variety of experiences and voices to support our burgeoning player group.

We are also going to ensure additional dedicated focus this season into our critical and committed group of 16-19 year olds who formed such an important part of last seasons on field success throughout the grades.

So, no matter how small, or how big a role you might be able to play, we would love to hear from you over the next week or so.

With Indoor Preseason timetable already booked, Ferndale Park back at our disposal (and the ground in incredible playing and training condition), some brilliant new playing and social kit to shortly be unveiled, some big name recruits and returns to further bolster our playing stocks, and some exciting evolution to our club leadership structure, there has never been a better time to get involved at AWCC.

So, if keen to learn more about how you can help; please reach out to Tim on 0402 038 514 or [email protected] or Ron on 0412 556 005 or [email protected] to have a chat and learn a little more.
