SENIOR COACHING PANEL POSITIONS NOW OPEN FOR 2026/27
Whilst many will turn their attention to winter sports and other activities at this time of year, the AWCC Committee continues to work hard over recent weeks, planning for the coming season and beyond.
There are a number of key priorities and it's fantastic to see the energy and contribution of so many keen to ensure our club is set up for success again in 2026/27.
One key ingredient in last season's on and off field success was our Senior Coaching Panel, brilliantly led by Ron Salkowski.
Ron, along with helpers throughout the season including Craig Macdougall, Brendan Foley, Chris Leutton and others, ensured that Senior training was purposeful, productive and outcome-focused.
Along with some other great initiatives, including the Player Handbook, Past Player Guest speakers, Dinners on Thursdays, and Preseason and T20 Practice matches, we saw many players thrive on field. We also saw player numbers and availability improve sharply and a very tangible outcome as all 5 Senior teams made finals.
We have seen feedback and insights from the Player Survey that reiterates the positive momentum these initiatives supported.
Ron, who travelled a long distance multiple times a week, will deservingly scale back his involvement at Tuesday and Thursday training this coming season. With that being said, Ron has nominated for and accepted into a Commitee Position for the coming season - so his presence and contribution will undoubtedly continue to be immense.
So, as we step towards a new season, we are keen to hear from anyone who might have an interest in supporting the club in a Coaching/Training Coordinator capacity.
We will once again be looking to form a collective coaching group to ensure each week we have consistency in resource, but also a variety of experiences and voices to support our burgeoning player group.
We are also going to ensure additional dedicated focus this season into our critical and committed group of 16-19 year olds who formed such an important part of last seasons on field success throughout the grades.
So, no matter how small, or how big a role you might be able to play, we would love to hear from you over the next week or so.
With Indoor Preseason timetable already booked, Ferndale Park back at our disposal (and the ground in incredible playing and training condition), some brilliant new playing and social kit to shortly be unveiled, some big name recruits and returns to further bolster our playing stocks, and some exciting evolution to our club leadership structure, there has never been a better time to get involved at AWCC.
So, if keen to learn more about how you can help; please reach out to Tim on 0402 038 514 or [email protected] or Ron on 0412 556 005 or [email protected] to have a chat and learn a little more.
