Want your child training with purpose and getting real matchplay results? Our UTR Performance Training Camps combine morning squad training with UTR Verified Matchplay in the afternoon — the perfect mix of development + competition.

Shadow training with some of our talent dev kids have proven to be very effective when teaching the juniors the importance of technique and footwork. How? Here are a few ways we believe helps:

1) Build Muscle Memory: Creates a pattern for movement that becomes automatic overtime.

2) Improves technique and form: Without the pressure of the ball in play, you can put for focus on your body’s position, weight transfer, and rhythm of your movements for each stroke.

3) Increases balance and body awareness: By mimicking the entire movement, from footwork to follow-through, you become more aware of your body’s position and how to maintain balance, especially when landing after a shot.

4) Allows for focused correction: You can slow down the movement to break down complex actions into smaller parts and correct any mistakes in your form, which is harder to do when you’re also trying to hit a moving ball.

5) Works on specific situations: It’s an effective way to practice footwork for different scenarios, such as moving for wide balls, short balls, or volleys.

6) Can be done anywhere: It requires no ball or court and can be practiced at home, in front of a mirror, or in any available space, making it a convenient way to get in extra practice.
