The wait is over! From Tuesday 4 August at 7:00pm, Night Social Tennis returns to Glass House District Tennis Club, and we're excited to put our brand-new court lights to the test!
Whether you're a seasoned player, a social hitter, or picking up a racquet for the first time, everyone is welcome. Come along for a fun and friendly evening of tennis.

✨ Lights on at Glass House District Tennis Club! ✨
It was an amazing afternoon and evening celebrating the official turning on of our new court lights. It was wonderful to see so many members, families, friends and local community supporters come together to mark such an exciting milestone for our club.
These lights mean so much more than brighter courts. They open the door to more evening tennis, more opportunities for people of all ages to get involved, and a stronger future for our club.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the event so special. Your support, energy and encouragement remind us exactly why community sport matters.
Our biggest thanks goes to the Queensland Government Andrew Powell MP for the grant funding that helped make the upgrade to working court lights possible, and to Cr Jenny Broderick - Division 1 SCC for grant funding that has supported the installation of a defibrillator and storage shed. And finally we cannot forget Tennis Queensland for recent grant to help us upgrade to a digital lock, to allow us to move towards online court hire bookings. Jack Mellish Tennis

💚🎾 A Club Worth Fighting For 🎾💚

The Glass House Mountains District Tennis Club has been part of our community for a long time. But like many small community clubs, there came a point where things became quiet. Activity faded, memberships dropped, and there was a real risk that tennis in Glass House Mountains could become a thing of the past.
Eighteen months ago, a small group of passionate locals decided that couldn't happen.
We rolled up our sleeves, put our hearts on the line, and committed to bringing tennis back to the Glass House community. Since then, we've seen new members join and a genuine sense of excitement grow around the sport once again.
But the reality is that while the spirit of our club is stronger than ever, our courts are showing their age.
They've served our community faithfully for more than 30 years and, much like some of us, they're starting to show their age. Cracks are appearing, wear and tear is becoming more obvious, and the need for resurfacing is becoming increasingly urgent if we're to continue providing a safe and enjoyable place for everyone to play.
We recently placed our hopes into a grassroots sporting club grant that would have helped us resurface the courts, but unfortunately, we learned this week that we were unsuccessful.
It was a tough blow, and if we're honest, many of us at the club are feeling disheartened right now.
While we had hoped we could do this on our own, we have come to the realisation that we need to ask for help. And if we don't ask, the opportunity to preserve and improve this important community asset may slip away.
So today, we're reaching out to our local community and asking for help we need.
If you've ever played on our courts, watched your children play, or simply believe local sporting clubs matter, we would be deeply grateful for your support.
We don't need a few people to give a lot (even though that would definitely help)
We simply need a lot of people to give a little.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help bring us one step closer to resurfacing our courts and ensuring tennis continues in Glass House Mountains for the next generation.

It’s LIGHTS ON for Glass House District Tennis Club.
We invite the community to come and join us on Saturday 25th July from 4pm for the officially turning on of our new lights.
There will also be a sausage sizzle (gold coin donation), as well as a free game of tennis for anyone who is keen to test them out.
We would love to see as many locals as possible, so please spread the word.

Volunteers like Vicki and Jan are what makes sport in regional Queensland so special. 💙🎾

In 2025, the sisters helped bring new life back to the Glass House District Tennis Club — a once-thriving local club that had been closed for almost 30 years.

Through their leadership, they re-established governance, secured funding, and helped the club grow back to around 30 members, with even bigger plans for the future.

But their impact reaches far beyond the tennis courts. As long-time Sunshine Coast volunteers, they’ve spent decades giving back to local clubs, schools, and community groups, helping keep regional communities connected through sport.

True grassroots champions. 👏

The team were out in force on Sunday for Bunnings sausage sizzle. Great effort from everyone who could help out and thanks to all who supported our club with buying a sausage. It all helps.

Our current courts have served the community for more than 30 years but are now approaching their end of life and are in urgent need of resurfacing. They’ve served the community well, but their condition is making it increasingly difficult to attract new members, host events, and grow the club. Quite simply to build a thriving future, we need safe, high-quality courts.

We are currently applying for government grant funding to support this major project. However, to be eligible, we must raise at least $20,000 ourselves. Our members are doing everything we can - running raffles, cooking countless sausages, but we can’t reach this goal alone.

Resurfacing our courts would be a huge win for the entire Glass House community. It would provide a safe, long-term sporting facility for young children learning to play, families looking for a healthy activity, social players, and seniors wanting to stay active. It will allow us to expand programs, welcome new members, and build a club that our community can be proud of for decades to come.
