Only the Lucky 7 for the Coach Sandra 3KM session this morning. Beautiful morning for a swim so we were surprised to have the pool to ourselves. Great to sit and chat with Ros Newberry after swimming and share the LZ Fruit Cake she brought with her and not to forget Sharon’s GF slice. Late of Camille Street, Clinton.

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Thursday 28th May 2026, aged 91 years.

Loved Husband of Roslyn. Dearly loved Father and Father-in-law of Mark & Donna and Leith & Grant. Devoted Grandpa of Sofia and Celeste. Much loved Brother and Uncle to his family. Tex was a respected and treasured friend of many.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Tex’s funeral service to be held at the Boyne Tannum Memorial Parklands, Crematorium Chapel, Pioneer Drive, Boyne Island, Friday 19th June 2026, commencing 1:00 pm.

In memory of Tex’s colourful personality, please feel free to attend in bright colours.

Tex’s service may be viewed on our website from 3:30pm on the day.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tex Newberry on Thursday28 May. Tex was a longstanding member of the Gropers, an accomplished swimmer, and a fiercely competitive participant. Although he had not swum with us in recent years, he remained well remembered within our club. His wife, Ros, continues to be a dedicated and regular attendee on Sundays.
On behalf of all Gropers members, we extend our sincere condolences to Ros and the Newberry family during this difficult time.

We are pleased to announce that our 25m Indoor Pool will reopen Sunday 3rd of May and resume hours as per normal. 🏊‍♀️💦

We thank you for your patience while we completed this unscheduled maintenance and we look forward to welcoming the community back into our facilities.

Please note that the 50m Outdoor Pool will remain closed for scheduled renovations.

⚠ Due to an unexpected water leak, the Gladstone Aquatic Centre 25m pool will be closed from 1pm today, Friday 1 May.

Our 50m outdoor pool is also closed at this time for scheduled maintenance.

Updates about our re-opening will be provided on our social media. Please keep an eye out for more information.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
