Come along and swim with us, create a genuine team bond, and participate in social gatherings, regular exercise. Coach Sandra kept 10 swimmers moving with a 3.15km program this morning. Minor panic swept through the squad when Sharon H was late arriving with her delicious Ginger Slice. Photo today of the 3 founding members that are still swimming with Gropers after 40 years. Of the 25 founding members Sandra and Reg Pugh and Pauline Walters (née Hair) are still coaching and churning out the laps with Gropers.

The Tuesday squad got a taste of one of the novelty relays planned for the 40th Anniversary recovery swim. Coach Russel brought out the flower pots for a Bill & Ben Flowerpot Men resistance session. The photo shows that the resistance went to the swimmers heads.

Gropers Members met with Council and contributed to the survey. The results show how important a functioning 50m pool is to the swimming community and the wider community. Gropers support the urgent reinstatement of the GAC 50m
Pool and ongoing future planning for an enhanced community facility.

Coach Rod had some longer sectors in the program this morning for the six Gropers to enjoy. Garth’s last swim for a couple of months before heading to the US. Good to see Gropers French-Aussie Jeremy this morning. Sharon’s slice again was the highlight of the morning. Planning for the 40th Anniversary celebrations 10&11 October are well underway. The commemorative Yeti tumblers for Members have arrived and the banner is going to be a regular theme. Please RSVP as early as you can.

A dozen swimmers for the Gropers Sunday session this morning. There seems to be a correlation between a good turn out and Sharon H’s delicious slices being available after the swim! The 40th Anniversary posts and emails went out during the week. Please like, share and circulate widely so as many Gropers as possible are aware of the planned celebrations.

Coach Rod was a bit under the weather today so we pulled out the “Wagon Wheel” so he could take it easy. 10 swimmers worked their way diligently around the wheel. There seemed to be some urgency to get through the program today, I suspect it was due to Sharon’s and Pauline’s Christmas in July treats waiting. Greatly appreciated. Keep an eye out next week for the formal invite to the Gropers 40th Anniversary celebrations 10-11 October.

How’s this for a Tuesday night session - 7 swimmers and an apology!!!! Great to see long time Gropers Patricia J, Scott P and Mark G in for a swim. Also great to see Leissa and Russel getting back into the swing of things and enjoying the midweek sessions.
