I am told by the people in the know, that I should be on Face Book more. My trouble is, I get busy and to be honest it is the last thing on my mind. I do apologies to the people who Messenger me, I just don't get to look at it!!
Anyway, what is happening in the world of Gladstone Bicycle Centre? Well we are busy, which is wonderful. When David passed away and my world literally dropped out, I did not know what I was going to do. He had kept his side of things really close to his chest. He didn't want to 'burden' me with it. I had my lane to keep me busy. So I literally had to learn his world, which is very hard, when, [A] it was David's passion, and [B} it was David's trade. He had been doing it for 52 years, which is a very hard act to follow. Thank the Lord, and I mean that, I had Dale, and my Son, Ryan. Without them I would not have been able to do this. I have learnt so much this last year. I don't know everything, but I have learnt that I did know more than I thought. Dale is such a blessing. David had spent quite a few years teaching him, and Dale had been like a sponge and had soaked everything up. He is a gifted mechanic, who would have thought when he joined us, just to do a bit of work experience, that it would have lead to him being a gifted mechanic with a passion for what he does. I am very proud of him.
I have made a few adjustments to the business. I no longer sell E-Bikes, with all the new laws that are coming in soon, I went to my Solicitor to seek legal counsel and he advised me to get out. So I have. We weren't having anything to do with E-Scooters, but I have bowed to pressure and we do just the Tyres and Tubes. We do not have anything to do with the electrical side of things, we are not qualified to do that. With most E-Scooters, we unfortunately have to say to some people that they have to go back to the place of purchase to source the Tyres, as quite often they are not in the 'Bike Industry' side of things. We carry the basic 10" and 8 inch
tyres and tubes but anything outside that we cannot source them.
Well I just wanted to touch base. Please ring us if you need anything, I am hopeless at Social Media, lol, I just forget that it is there.

I wish to advice everyone that as at the 12/7/2025 Gladstone Bicycle Centre will be closed.
We will re-open on the 28/7/2025. It is unfortunate but it cannot be helped.
We are NOT shutting down or going anywhere, it's just a surgery thing...cheers:)🥹

Well, it's coming up to a year since David has been gone. What a year it has been. One that I never thought I would have to go through. I have learnt so much. Some good and unfortunately some not so good. However, I am grateful for the support that I have received, and I must say that I am very proud of my staff, for they have really stepped up, and we have now forged a wonderful cohesive bond. So, I just wanted to touch base, I must admit, I am not very good a social media, that was one hundred percent David's world, he loved it. Me? Well, that's a whole different story. Take care everyone, remember to love the one you're with, because you just don't know!! I didn't.😌

I have got my best mate home now. Thanks so much to the lovely ladies at GCLA. In thirteen years, he has never done that. My vet told me that he has beginnings of Demetia, poor little luv. So, he will be guarded, even more than normal, trust me this won't happen again. I think it is one of the worst feelings to have your fur mate gone, without you knowing where.

Well, this is a lovely picture of two very special people. Ryan my son and my dear friend Damian, or as I call him, Damo. Damo has bought David's most favorite bike, mind you he loved them all. He is now kitted out and he is ready to go for that ride, that he told David that he would never do lol...David would be so proud knowing that Damo has got his bike, I can see him in heaven going....'yes, yes, yes, you go mate...'.
Anyway, for me, it makes my heart sing, to see this happening.
As a lot of you know it has been very hard for me, loosing David, but it has been things like this, that makes it worthwhile. I am super proud of both of these fellas!!!!!!!!
Damo,, how does a journey of a thousand kilometers start? One pedal at a time...there yah go...😅

Please do not accept any 'friend' request, because obviously it's not him. I don't know there is always something...☹️

I want to announce that as of the 3/3/25 until the 16/3/25, we will be shut. It is for personal reasons. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but unfortunately it can't be helped. We do really appreciate your understanding.
We will re-open on the 17/3/25 and trading will resume as normal.

Well first of 'Happy New Year' everyone. Just letting you know that I am now getting ready for Christmas, as time is already flying by..yep!!
Just want to touch base with everyone, and give some timely advice. We are seeing quite a few customers of late bringing in flat Tyres. Now with a lot of them there is a reoccurring problem. That is, they have spit valves. There is a reason, why this happens, and we see it more at this time of the year. The main problem, with valves that are split at the base, is because the Tyre is uninflated and it starts to move and the Valve hole that the tube valve sits in can become sharp, hence the split valve and flat Tyre. The problem is, is that Tyres and Tubes are made of Bytile not rubber and they are a woven product. Anything in this climate that is woven and sits, even for a day will slowly loose air. So, the thing that has to be done on a regular basis, is to pump your Tyres up. On the side of the Tyre will be the PSI, of what that Tyre is supposed to be run at. They are NOT 4-wheel drive Tyres. They are not meant to be run low; the PSI is there for a reason!!!
The lesson for today, is this, if you keep the air in your Tyres, to the PSI, you will have less chance of puncturing first and a whole lot less of problem with Valve splitting. Trust me, we see this repeatedly. I get that some who run Tubeless or Tubular, run them a little lower, especially when you are off Road. However, clincher, or as most of us know it by the term, Tyre and tube, have a PSI for a reason.
So, there you go...listen to this old girl, and you just might have your Tyres running a little bit longer and save you some money...I really don't mind🤣🤣

So, after some prompting from my son, [who may I say is just like his dad}, I have posted just some of the Bikes that we sell in this shop. We have given you just a snippet of what we have, and it is just the tip of the iceberg of what we can get in. Obviously, I can't carry everything that is out there. However, as long as it is in the country, and that is a big issue at the moment, and we have the Agency, I can supply most bikes. So just remember that Christmas is not that far away, I can't believe that I am saying that, and we are now doing Laybys for Christmas...yep! Now I do have a range of Avanti's and Giants coming in, and there will be the new Mongoose kids range and Malvern Star models, which are the new 2025 range also, so there are some lovely new models and colours coming in, so as I said earlier, just a snippet, of what is and what is to come....Until we see yah face to face or on the phone...Cheers😃

Hi all, I thought that I would do an update on what is happening in the world of Gladstone Bicycle Centre, since that sudden and devastating loss of David. I have to admit that it has not been easy, but I have to acknowledge that the support that my family and I have received, has been wonderful and to be trueful, humbling.
People come in everyday, to support us and to give their condolences, which of course is lovely. I did find it hard at first, but God has shown me that people do not have to do that, that in fact they want to, which is beyond any words that I can find to describe, the honour that I feel. I did not know that at my age, I would have to be learning a whole new trade, but in a way I have had to, and in a weird way it has been good for me! Yep!!!
I always knew that David had so much knowledge, but I did not realise just how much knowledge he had. Of course that is now lost and can never be replaced, nor do I want to replace it, this was his world.
So what is going on here?..
Well Dale, who David spend quite a few years training, has been thrown in the deep end, and I must say, I am sooooo proud of him. This young man has more that surpassed my expectations. He has stepped up, big time, and I am so grateful. If there has been something he was not sure about, he has gone and studied it until he knows it back to front. I think sometimes when you are thrown in the deep end, that is when you truly find out what you are made off, and you either sink or swim, and I am proud to say that Dale is not only swimming, I think he would win an Olympic medal lol..[not in breaking though lol]..Also we have young Heath, who is our Junior, he too has been thrown in the deep end, and seems to be swimming very well, bless him.
My family have all on-mass, moved to Gladstone to support me. My son, Ryan, who did his apprenticeship as a bike mechanic, has now joined me on a Saturday, so that if there is something out of the ordinary, he can sort it for me. To be honest though there is not much that Dale can't sort. DI2, well that's coming😁
Obviously, there are some things that we just can't do anymore. We cannot, at the moment, do Racing Bike Fits, that was David's world. I have of course, spent many, many years, walking beside David, and I have to admit, I actually know more than I thought..🤣 So for everyday fitting of new bikes or even old ones, I'm your woman, and so of course is Dale and Ryan.
We are still able to do all repairs and services, none of that has changed. David had already trained Dale up very well in this part of the trade.
So if you have got to this point, I want to thank you all for your ongoing love and support, and I do look forward to speaking to you, whenever you come into the shop.

Even though my darling hubbie, is no longer with us. I can assure you that GBC is still trading, and will be untill...I just want to thank everyone for the lovely outpouring of care and support. Until I see you when I see you..Cheers. Sally-Anne🥰
