If your transducer isn't reading like this then ultimately you're just wasting fuel not being able to find spots on the fly.

And truth be known these new spots will nearly always fish better than existing ones...

Wide open Wednesday! Another transom mount install with perfect picture at over 40knots on a V17 hunter with partial pod.

This one presented me with all the issues that a hull could with regard to transducer placement. The customer at first requested a low profile through hull and without seeing the boat I agreed that would probably be the best option.

This customer from however insisted that he wanted Outta Range to complete the install so it was done the first time and was happy to pay the travel costs to get this result.

On seeing the boat I suggested trying a transom mount for a number of reasons and the worst case being we have to fill two screw holes in the transom. But once again the transom mount read near perfect and the customer was to say the least.

Was awesome to be a part of The Boyne Tannum HookUp again this year. Massive shout out to the brand new Committee this year who did an amazing job with only 5 people.

Great to see some of our customers take out prizes over the weekend and come and share how flawlessly their boats performed in very very average conditions of 20-30knots.

Massive thank you to Simrad Yachting and Lowrance for getting behind this event to help provide the prizes for the biggest and best fishing competition in Australia and the best bit seeing so many excited and mad keen fishing kids involved in this family event.

Well done to all the winners, enjoy your spoils and we will see everyone next year!

The most expensive lie in boating? "It reads perfectly at speed." 🤥

Kane bought a new boat. The seller promised the electronics were amazing. The reality? "It was dog sh*t."

Why are we the best when it comes to marine electronics? Because 10,000 plus hours on the water equals results.... This was my half of a catch with 2 POB and fishing time of about 6 hours 💁‍♂️💁‍♂️👀👀👌👌🎣🎣🎣

Good isn't but what would you pay to be able to constantly find and catch fish like this?

Big Red Emperor Myth: You Don’t Need Big Fish Arches on Your Sounder!

One of the biggest misconceptions in fishing electronics is thinking you need to see big arches on your sounder to catch fish — especially when targeting red emperor.

When you’re running a narrow sonar beam, fish pass through the cone quickly. That’s why you often won’t see long, exaggerated arches on the screen — and that’s completely normal.
What a narrow beam gives you instead is detail.

Detail shows fish holding tight to structure — rocks, rubble, w**d — exactly where red emperor live.
If you’re scanning a full 50–60m water column and chasing arches, you’ll miss fish that are sitting less than a metre off the bottom.

Understanding sonar beam width, sounder setup, and how to read your fish finder properly is what leads to consistent catches — not just lucky ones.
