🧢 Season 4 kicks off… with a well-timed slap across the face.

The three-time, undefeated, reigning kings of LMS Gladstone have returned to chase a historic four-peat.

And we kicked things off… by being absolutely belted.

Lord’s Warrior Gladstone batted first and decided boundaries were their love language, smashing their way to 187/2. We tried everything — pace, spin, prayer — but mostly ended up fetching the ball from neighbouring paddocks.

Then it was our turn with the bat. The chase?
Less “run chase,” more “crime scene.”
We folded for 63 all out in 12.2 overs — like a soggy deck chair in a cyclone.

An innings that featured more collapses than a cheap camping chair, and a batting effort so fast some of the team’s snacks outlasted it. We’d love to tell you we were trying to boost their net run rate… but honestly, we’re not that generous.

😅 Final Result:
Lord’s Warrior Gladstone def. Central Lane Strikers by 124 runs

Today the Central Lane Strikers LMS team faced off against Wollongong champions, the Gong Tuskers. The Tuskers got off to a flyer of a start but a fantastic bowling partnership between Jon Donald (2-22) and and Chris Cain (2-30) put the Strikers back in the game. Unfortunately, some costly fielding errors and the loss of our big hitters saw the task become too much even after some late innings heroics from Zac Smith (48no) and Curtis Cause (33no).

Central Lane Strikers LMS got off to a flyer against 2x World Champions Tradies You Can't Trust having them reeling at 3 for 2 after five overs due to some firery quick bowling by Campbell Jarvis, Unfortunately that's where it fell away, with Tradies You Can't Trust posting a massive 4/225 from their 20 overs, In reply the Strikers were bundled out for 58, with Chris Cain and Grant Noble showing some stubborn resistance with 28 and 21 respectfully.

The Strikers now move into the plate competition, where they will face Gong Tuskers.

The local lms champions Central Lane Strikers are heading down to the Gold Coast next week to compete with some of the countries best lms teams in the Australian Championships being held at Runaway Bay Cricket Club from the 28th September to the 2nd October. The lads will have to perform right from the start with their first 2 games up against both finalists from the 2021 championships.
Fine Legs from Toowoomba and one of the tournament favourites, Tradies You Can't Trust from the Gold Coast.
