As part of the Sky Blue Pathways program, Gladesville Sharks players are gaining access to quality coaching, player development pathways, and unforgettable Sydney FC match day experiences.

From the stadium lap, to player mascots, to Half-Time Heroes, these moments help our young players feel connected to the professional game while building confidence, excitement and a lifelong love of football.

At GSFC, we’re committed to investing in grassroots football: better coaching, stronger skills, meaningful programs, and a club community where kids can play, develop and thrive.

Maria dedicated over 40 years to the game, not just as a coach, but as someone who created opportunities, built pathways, and inspired generations of players and coaches.

This scholarship is a powerful way to continue her legacy, supporting women and gender diverse coaches to grow, lead, and make an impact in our game.

Maria dedicated over 40 years to football, coaching community teams at Melbourne University, Brunswick Zebras, Yarra Jets and Darebin Falcons. She wasn't just a coach; she was a builder of opportunity.

Maria co-founded Kensington Junior Soccer Club, coaching and creating pathways for young players where none existed. At Melbourne University Soccer Club, she coached teams from State League 3 through to Victorian Premier League promotion. This scholarship honours her legacy.

Scholarships on Offer:

1 × Major Scholarship valued at: $3,247 ($3,000 cash + in-kind)
4 × Development Scholarships: $4,988 ($1,000 x 4 cash = $4,000 + in-kind)

Total: $7,000 cash + value of in-kind

Who Can Apply:

- Women and gender diverse coaches working at community club or junior/youth level
- Applicants actively coaching and/or aspiring coaches wanting to start
- Applicants based in Australia. Strong preference will be given to applicants residing in Victoria (reflecting Maria's base) for the major scholarship
- One development scholarship will be awarded to a goalkeeping coach

Applicants Must Demonstrate:

- Commitment to community football coaching
- Willingness to contribute to the women's coaching community
- Capacity to complete a community commitment period following completion of the scholarship

What a start to the MiniRoos season! 🦈⚽️

Morrison Bay Park was absolutely buzzing, full of energy, excitement, and that unmistakable game day atmosphere. With clear skies and spectacular weather, it was the perfect setting to kick things off.

Our Sharks looked incredible in the new kits, worn with pride and bringing the club spirit to life across every game. We saw wins, we saw losses, but more importantly, we saw something even better, kids having a blast, supporting each other, and showing outstanding sportsmanship from start to finish.

The team morale was through the roof, and it’s clear we’ve got something special building this season. This is exactly what community football is all about.

We’re only just getting started, and we can’t wait to see what the season ahead brings! 🩷

Sharks at the Park 🦈⚽️

Last night, 30+ of our incredible Mini and Junior girls stepped into something pretty special at the Sky’s Her Limit workshop with Sydney FC at SkyPark.

From learning on the field to hearing real stories from female players, the night was full of inspiration. A definite highlight was meeting members of the Sydney FC A-league women’s team, grabbing autographs, and seeing first-hand what’s possible with hard work and passion.

More than just a session, it created space to build confidence, connect with role models, and start thinking about what the future could look like, both in football and beyond.

Some powerful takeaways from the night:

• Be true to yourself and enjoy the game
• Your identity is more than football, have other outlets
• If you have a passion, back yourself and go for it
• Take the pressure off and have fun
• Be kind to yourself, it matters more than you think

A big thank you to the Sydney FC team, guest players, and mentors for creating such a positive and empowering experience for our girls.
