Tournament Day 🎾

Four Chapman Tennis Coaching players competed in a GP UTR tournament at Kuringal Tennis Club on Thursday 9 July.

Congratulations to all the players for getting out there and competing, and a special well done to Robbie on winning his division!

🎾 Match Play Camp 🎾

This week we ran a Match Play Camp for some of our younger players, with a focus on match play, sportsmanship, effort, courage and teamwork.

It was great to see the players out there having a go, competing, supporting each other and learning more about what it means to compete in a positive way.

Well done to everyone who came along — it was fantastic to see you all out on court. 👏

🎾 Junior Development Tournament Wrap-Up ☀️

On Thursday 16 April, we were so pleased to host our Junior Development Tournament at Gisborne Tennis Club.

We had 39 players compete across the Under 12s, Under 14s and Under 18s, with the round-robin format giving everyone plenty of opportunities to get out on court, compete, and challenge themselves. In total, around 80 sets were played — a fantastic effort by all 👏

What stood out most was the great effort, positive attitude, and the way players supported one another throughout the day. It was also fantastic to see so many kids connecting off the court as well — cheering on friends, hanging out together, and enjoying being part of the event ❤️

That’s what these events are all about:
🎾 having a go
💪 challenging yourself
👏 supporting others
😊 being active
🤝 connecting with friends and building a sense of belonging

Congratulations to all of our winners, and well done to every player who took part 🌟

🎾☀️ Junior Summer Competition Wrap-Up – Gisborne Tennis Club ☀️🎾

What a season it’s been! Our Junior Summer Season has wrapped up, and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone who competed.

✅ 9 teams
✅ Around 46 players involved across the season
✅ 6 teams made finals
✅ 3 teams made grand finals
🏆 And 2 teams came away as premiers — amazing effort!

But more than results, what we loved seeing week after week was the stuff that really matters: players having a go, sticking with the challenge, and continuing to improve — plus the way they carried themselves on court and supported their teammates.

Throughout the season we saw our club values on display:
💛 Respect | 💪 Effort | 🦁 Courage | 🤝 Empathy | 🌱 Growth

A big shoutout as well to everyone recognised at Presentation Day (Saturday 21 March) — congratulations to all MVP winners, and especially to our Best Sportsperson Award recipients. Being a great sport and teammate is something we’re incredibly proud to celebrate at Gisborne.

Thank you to everyone for a fantastic season. Well done to every player for their effort, and for representing their team and our club so strongly 👏

What a fantastic day we had on Sunday 22 March at the Gisborne Tennis Club Open Club Championships ☀️🎾

We were very lucky with the weather, and it set the scene for a brilliant day of tennis.

What stood out most was the spirit in which the day was played — great effort, sportsmanship, support for one another, and plenty of fun along the way. It was wonderful to see the club buzzing with people competing, socialising, and enjoying the day.

There were some terrific matches throughout the event, including some very close contests, and it was great to see everyone getting out there and giving it their best.

A big congratulations to all of our winners, and to everyone who took part 👏

Thank you as well to everyone who helped out throughout the day. Days like this only happen because people get involved, and we really appreciate it.

These are the kinds of days that remind us how important local sporting clubs are — bringing people together, keeping people active, and giving everyone a chance to enjoy being part of the club.

🏆🎾 Entries are now open for the Gisborne Open Club Championships! 🎾🏆

Come and enjoy a great day of tennis at Gisborne Tennis Club on Sunday 22 March.

Events:
• Open Singles
• A Grade Singles
• Open Doubles
• A Grade Doubles

Players can enter a maximum of 2 events. We’ll group players as evenly as possible based on playing level to keep matches competitive and enjoyable.

Entry fees:
• Singles: $20
• Doubles: $10 per player

Important:
✅ You must be a current Gisborne Tennis Club member to enter
⏰ Entries close Tuesday 17 March

If you don’t have a doubles partner yet, there’s an option on the form to let us know, and we’ll do our best to help match you up.

We’re also hoping to run a fun parent/child event at the end of the day. 🙂

🏆🎾 Junior Club Championships – What a day! 🎾🏆

On Sunday 1 March, Gisborne Tennis Club held our Junior Club Championships — and what a day it was! 🎾

We had an awesome turnout with 30 junior players competing across A, B, C and D grades. With a round-robin format, everyone got plenty of matches and lots of time out on court. We were also very lucky with the weather and managed to get through almost the entire schedule — only a few matches missed right at the end. 🙌

One of the biggest highlights was the sportsmanship on display all day. There was so much encouragement, fair play, and support between players — win or lose. It was fantastic to see the teamwork in doubles, the positive attitudes, and the way everyone carried themselves with effort, resilience, and respect. ✅

A big thank you to Ravi for running the BBQ and keeping everyone fed, and to Marissa for taking photos and helping the day run smoothly. We really appreciate it! 🌭📸

Well done to all players who competed — you should be very proud of the effort you put in. It’s such a great reminder of what junior tennis is all about: improving skills, challenging yourself, and enjoying the day with your mates. 💙
