Unfortunately less than the minimum number of members (12) registered as β€œGOING” to the BMB May 2026 discretionary shoot and the event will not proceed. Event cancelled.
Our next scheduled shoot is our monthly intra club shoot on 14 June 2026. Our monthly intra club shoot is usually scheduled the first Sunday of every month but for June 2026 it has been delayed for one week to 14.6.26 to avoid scheduling conflict with the Victoria State IFAA Championships at GTB on 7.6.26.

BMB Edi club hunt wrap up.
Sun 24.5.26
Swags have been rolled, tents folded up camper trailers packed up and everybody (well almost everybody) on their way home ready for work Monday. The score card for the weekend --. BMB 0 Sambar cohort sniggering at us as we walked past them un-noticed. The closest BMB got to a sambar this weekend is the big boy hanging off the Mount View Hotel wall above the fire place. Speaking to a local today in the Mountview who lives nearby in Upper Edi about our hunt and he replies "they dont call them ghosts of the forrest for nothing". To rub salt into the wounds he tells me all the deer he sees daily in his rear padfock getting honked at most days. But hey thems the breaks... That being said all BMB hunters saw deer for the weekend and everybody is a bit fitter for the physical effort those hills (feel like mountains) take to transverse. A few went out for a Sunday morning hunt but no great results.wiith more effort and sweat expended and the ghosts score remaining the same. Any way a great weekend enjoyed by all. So as I sit here in our vacant empty camp site post BMB hunt. How do you entertain yourself you may ask.? Well Moyhu Hotel for lunch, Chrismont Winery for dessert and Mountview Hotel for an afternoon chaser. Off northward bound tmrw to QLD. Be good if this was every weekend.!!
Great weekend good company, weary legs, sore feet but big smiles. Not to be missed next time. From the BMB Ghost.

BMB Club Hunt at Edi Cutting up in King Valley. Sat night camp fire.
Tired feet, sore legs but smiles all round for the many km walked over close contour line terrain. Although no game harvested all groups saw deer for todays mornings and arvo shoots with several 'honks' recorded. Great weather and no wind. Tyrone, Kim, Josh did a Sat hunt and headed for home. The rest of the gang are sitting around a great fire with Omar cooking 3rd tea for everybody with his favourite chevapi and Kajmak holding court, Naths country music playing in the background and Liam sambar shoulder slow cooking over the fire and sambar ribs on Omars fire. Plans are in place for Sundays hunt. What are the rest of BMB up to.....?

BMB Hunter Education Day 19 May. 2026 wrap.

What an absolute ripper of a day Dan O, Tyrone C and Nathan McL put on for BMB members interested in developing their archery hunting skills.
The autumn day started cold with a -2deg C frost but like all autumn frosts they produce wonderfully sunny days like today.
22 members listened with much interest as community engagement specialist Matt Rogers from the Victorian Game Management Authority delivered the first session, a very informative and authiritive presentation on all things game and hunting. Members really enjoyed his Q&A session to answer many queries. Matt also came bearing some free material and hands out appreciated by members. The game carry bags disappeared very quickly off the table. Matt's contacts are in the photos and he is happy for orgs to reach out to him. Any archery or hunt org will definitely benefit from hearing from him. Big thanks Matt.!!
The hunt education day was focused on taking deer and after smoko presentations centered around finding deer sign, understanding deer behaviour, understanding hunt area topography and applying specific deer behaviour to topography to hunt smarter in order to improve your chances to discover and harvest deer. The advice was practical and very informative, even right down to humble tips like how to better "glass" your field of view from right to left (as opposed to left to right) to take advantage of your natural cognitive functioning ability. Members were clearly focused and concentrating as Dan displayed the various tools and apps available at our finger tips to home work your intended hunt area to hunt smarter. Things like Mapsharevic and its various overlays, Google Earth and its 3D function and Explore App were all ran thru on the large display to show how to exploit and gain every advantage when out hunting. Doing prior home work to gain hunting advantage reiterates one of my favourite sayings being the 6P. Prior Preparation Prevents P**s Poor Performance. The three guys speak from thier hunting experience and were more than happy to share their knowledge, skills and mistakes totally absent of pretension. The club put on lunch with Tyrone talking all things broad head for the first session after lunch with a most impressive display of broad heads to say what works and what's doesn't thru experience and missed opportunities. Again much great info and advice based on trial, error and success in the field. Broad head tunning was discussed and applied before we all wandered off to a purpose made broad head butt to shoot broad heads and then field points to compare arrow dynamics and learn tune and improve. Many present shot broad heads for the first time and gained much. This was a rare occasion for approved broad head use on BMB grounds as it is strictly prohibited unless sanctioned such as for todays event. Thanks Range Capt Joe T for an excellent AND FLAT broad head range, something unusual for BMB. The day finished with hunting apparel, equipment, safety and specifics on our club hunt in a few weeks time. All in all a terrific day that everybody benefited from.
Thanks Dan, Nath and Tyrone for delivering the day. Totally worth it.
For those who attended leave a comment on your takeaway from the day.

BMB April 2026 monthly shoot.
Making baby arrows.....
Pete hits a 20 with a big fat arrow followed by Graham's knitting needle hitting the same spot for a perfect robinhood. Straight thru the nock and up into the shaft without any damage.
Let's separate them they say. Not on your life. Last seen on the club wall.

BMB April 2026 shoot wrap.
36 members fronted up for our April monthly shoot which was held over due to Easter impacting out usual first Sunday of the month schedule. Great to see a good smattering of new probationary members turning up to continue their archery journey. The weather didn't look promising so that might have cut numbers plus the horrible horrible price for fuel might be kicking in with people assessing what is essential driving. A quick but detailed safety briefing delivered by Prez Michael before we walked off onto the blue course under threatening skies. Range Cap Joe and Pete H had installed the new ABA targets set yesterday moving a few butts and markers. Must say the new ABA target set is a bit of a quandary. This set is AI designed. The so called feral cat was fat, well groomed, clean and looked like it was out of a Whiskas commercial. All it was missing was its collar. Every pig target was an amazingly clean spicemen with not so much as a smattering of mud or dirt to be seen any where, the bovine targets were that clean looking they would have not looked out of place competing in the livestock comp at the Melb show. The deer targets looked like they had all been groomed profesionally and would not look out of place in a Disney movie and the feral dog looked more like my neighbours mutt. Not so much a gaggle of feral animals photographed in their natural setting -- but cut and pasted from Google Images onto out of focus background. Not the most impressive target set but hey-- they still had 20/18/16 zones and a wash is still a wash. The weather held off for the morning three round with the major report for the morning session being a dry fire (a no arrow release) resulting in a bent cam but luckily no injury. Learing curve for everybody near and hopefully nothing more serious than a few $$ to spent for a new set of cams. The Canteen Goddesses Hamburgers were sold out (as usual) with some smarties preordering to ensure they got one regardless what time the walked in for lunch. 12.30pm the claxton sounded to signal the arvo one arrow and out we walked. The day finished about 2.30pm with all groups off course.
BMB is focusing on displaying contemporary photos from our various events with Monika H taking the duty on board adding and continually updating club photos Thanks Mon.
And big thanks to Peter H and Graham for showing us how baby arrows are made with a perfect robinhood.
