On Saturday 5th September the final round of 2026 Golden Boule was held at Ballarat Pétanque Club Inc. Despite raining heavily throughout the night and puddles forming on some pistes, the rain held off long enought in the morning for all 3 games to be completed before lunch. Both morning tea and lunch were well catered for in every way (enough food to feed a small nation) and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Once again the winning club was decided on the final day. The Pyrenees Petanque Club taking the honours with Ballarat Petanque Club a close second. 3rd Mt Macedon Petanque. 4th Woodend Hanging Rock Petanque Club 5th Smythesdale Petanque Club 6th Maldon Pétanque Club 7th Bendigo Petanque Club. Thanks to Lindsay Kinghorn and Beverly Forsyth for putting together a winter regional competition that is well supported and surely will continue to grow. Thanks Ballarat Petanque Club for allowing the final round to be played at your ground.

On Saturday 29 August MMPC travelled to Camberwell to defend the "Jolly Roger". The day started with the host's supplying breakfast: coffee, and bacon and egg rolls, not to be out done by a BBQ sausage sissle lunch. We'll done Camberwell, you have set the bar impossibly high but we like it. The competition was a mixed doubles melee over 4 games. It was a fun and friendly competition with "Roger" staying at Camberwell until we meet again next year. Score 18-30 Ouch!! Best player for MMPC was Peter Chaldjian winning all 4 games. Great day. Thanks Camberwell Petanque Club inc.

On Saturday 23rd August MMPC held their AGM meeting in the The House of the Rock Church Hall, New Gisborne. It was well attended and after a successful year the 2025/26 committee was re-elected. The highlight of the day, if not the year, was the presentation to both Doreen and Danny Green of "life membership" from the club of which they both are co-founding members, and since then have been willing participants in most aspects of the clubs running and administration. They have been a guiding light and positive influence to those of us who have had the pleasure to have been involved with them over the last 18 years.

On Saturday 15th August MMPC travelled to Smythesdale to compete in the 6th round of this year's Golden Boule. The competition was close all day with MMPC taking the honours for the day with a very close win. As always it was a pleasure to be welcomed by a friendly and competitive club like Smythesdale Petanque Club. The 7th and final round will be held at Ballarat Pétanque Club Inc and it will be hosted by MMPC, as the last round we have bye. Good luck to all Clubs with one final round to go.

On Saturday August 1st MMPC hosted the 5th round of the Golden Boule winter series agaist our near by neighbours WHPC. It was the perfect day for a game of Petanque, everyone arrived early allowing an early start. The 12 games were closely contested and in good spirit, with the home ground advantage and wet conditions giving MMPC a conclusive win. The games concluded around 1.00pm, and after a quick pack-up most players from both teams headed to Castello's Hotel for lunch and a well earned drink, with many Petanque stories to tell. Thanks WHPC for you friendship and camaraderie making it a lovely day.

On Saturday 18th July MMPC travelled to Bendigo for the 4th round of Golden Boule. The Bendigo weather was spring like, the competition friendly, and the morning tea went down a treat. After three rounds the final result came down to the wire, with just two game points in favour of MMPC. Thanks to Bendigo Petanque Club for hosting a great GB tournament.

On Saturday the 4th July MMPC hosted the third round of this year's Golden Boule against Ballarat Petanque Club. After a frosty start to the day we managed to get three rounds in just before the rain. Ths competition was played on soggy pistes making it hard work, especially for the away team. Perhaps by the time they had worked out the pistes the three games were over. A fun day was had by all, with lots of nibbles and a delicious morning tea, followed by a pub lunch which was well attended by members from both clubs. MMPC were winners on the day helped by their home ground advantage. Both clubs had given the opportunity for new club players to compete and gain experience.

Saturday's "COME AND TRY DAY" was a great success, with a terrific turnout of members (thanks for helping out with the setup) and many new faces willing to 'have a go'. There were lots of laughs, instruction, and encouragement for beginners, ranging in age from young families with toddlers, throught to senior level and every body mixed, enjoyed the the tasty refreshments that were supplied, and had a good time. Most of all they left more informed about our great game of Petanque. Thanks to Petanque Australia for their ongoing support, enabling us to keep promoting our fabulous sport of Petanque.
