🔴🔵 PLAYER SPOTLIGHT – ANI WILSON 🔵🔴
Born in Argentina, football has always been a huge part of Ani’s life. With the game constantly on the TV and woven into her family culture, she knew from a young age that she wanted to play.
Ani started playing at 12 through school before joining San Souci Women’s Division 1 at just 14 years old. After playing for around eight years, her football journey was interrupted by a serious ACL injury. Following months of rehabilitation, she returned to the field only to suffer another devastating injury to the same leg in her first game back.
Despite the setbacks, Ani never lost her love for the game.
After moving to the South Coast, she joined the Breakers and has loved every minute since. Over the years she has represented the club across Division 3, Over 30s and now AAW2, regularly helping out wherever needed.
One of Ani’s favourite football memories came last season when she won the Grand Final alongside her daughter, even getting on the scoresheet in the big game. ❤️💙
Playing through the middle or up front, Ani loves creating opportunities, feeding teammates into space and taking on defenders herself.
Growing up, her football heroes were Diego Maradona and Gabriel Batistuta. These days, like many football lovers around the world, her idol is Lionel Messi.
