🐾 MEET THE TEAM: BAILEY

Every studio needs a four-legged team member… and Bailey has happily taken on the role! 🐶

Bailey is our resident Groodle and occasional studio assistant.

His responsibilities include:

✨ Welcoming clients
✨ Supervising from the floor
✨ Providing emotional support
✨ Making sure everyone gets a proper hello
✨ Taking regular breaks (very important!)
✨ And generally making himself at home

His qualifications? Excellent cuddling and greeting skills. 😂

You might spot Bailey around the studio when you come in for your session.

We think every Pilates studio needs a Bailey. 🤎🐾

Ageing well isn’t about touching your toes or achieving the deepest stretch in the room.

It’s about maintaining enough mobility, strength and control to keep moving through life with confidence.

Our spines are designed to bend, rotate, extend and adapt. When we regularly explore these movements in ways that feel appropriate for our bodies, we help preserve the freedom to reach, turn, lift, walk and continue doing the things we enjoy.

You don’t need to be completely flexible to move well and stiffness isn’t simply determined by age.

The real message behind this quote is that movement matters at every stage of life.

Because growing older is inevitable, but continuing to support the way your body moves is something we can work on.

What if better movement wasn’t about trying harder, but helping your body work together more effectively?

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation, or DNS, is an approach inspired by the movement patterns we naturally develop during infancy.

Before we could understand instructions, our bodies learned to breathe, roll, reach, crawl, sit and eventually stand. Through these early stages, we developed the coordination and postural support needed to move against gravity.

DNS draws on these developmental principles to explore how the breath, trunk, joints and limbs work together to create stability through movement.

At Body in Line, we incorporate DNS principles to help clients develop greater awareness, coordination and control. That might mean adjusting how you breathe, changing your position or slowing an exercise down so your body can find a more effective movement strategy.

The exercises can look deceptively simple, but the focus is much bigger than one muscle or one part of the body.

It’s about teaching the body to move as one connected system.

At Body In Line, we believe your Pilates practice should be as individual as you are.

Every client brings their own movement patterns, goals, experience and needs. That’s why we take the time to observe, assess and understand how you move before developing your sessions.

We consider things such as strength, balance, mobility, coordination and movement quality, then use this information to guide your individual program.

No two people are exactly the same and your Pilates shouldn’t be either.

Individual attention. Thoughtful programming. Pilates tailored to you.

Meet Lynda, Pilates instructor and the resident sprinter of the Body in Line team 💙

Long before Lynda began teaching Pilates, movement was already a significant part of her life.

Her background is in sprinting, with a journey that eventually led her to Masters Athletics and competitions at local, state, national and international levels. Along the way, she won medals across the 60m, 100m, 200m, 400m and relay events, with a few records to her name too.

Then Lynda discovered Pilates.

It gave her a deeper understanding of her body and introduced her to an entirely different approach to strength, control and movement. Her Pilates journey eventually brought her to Amy’s studio when Body in Line first opened.

After training with Lynda for years, Amy encouraged her to take the next step and complete her Pilates qualification. That journey has now come full circle, with Lynda teaching alongside Amy in the same studio where she began as a client.

Lynda brings her experience as both an accomplished athlete and a long-standing Body in Line client into every class she teaches.

We’re very lucky to have her as part of the team.

Could two Pilates sessions a week help you sleep better?

A 2025 randomised controlled trial explored this in women aged 30 to 50 living with chronic lower back or neck pain.

Over six weeks, 27 participants completed 12 individually supervised Reformer Pilates sessions. Another 27 remained on a waitlist without an exercise programme.

At the end of the study, the Pilates group reported significantly better sleep quality, with their average score improving from 6.81 to 4.70. The control group showed no statistically significant improvement.

The Pilates group also reported improvements in pain, fatigue, fear of movement and how much pain interfered with daily life.

The findings are encouraging, but they aren’t a promise that Pilates will improve sleep for everyone.

This was one small study involving a specific group of women. The outcomes were self-reported, there was no long-term follow-up and although the sleep improvement was statistically significant, it did not meet the study’s threshold for clinical significance. Only the improvements in pain intensity and fatigue did.

What it does give us is another promising reason to look beyond movement in isolation.

When exercise is individualised, progressively developed and professionally supervised, it may support not only how we move, but how we feel and participate in daily life.

Encouraging evidence, shared with context.

Supporting you through injury, recovery, changing goals and every stage of life.

At Body in Line, we understand that your body won’t always arrive at the studio feeling the same, so we don’t believe your movement should look the same every time either.

Our approach begins with understanding you: how your body moves, what it has experienced, what matters to you and what you need on that particular day.

With small classes and more than 20 years of experience across Pilates, rehabilitation and movement education, Amy can adapt each session around the individual. That might mean working with an injury, supporting your sporting goals, rebuilding confidence or helping you maintain the strength and mobility to keep doing the things you love.

There is no one-size-fits-all workout. No expectation to push through pain. No pressure to make your body fit the exercise.

Instead, the exercise is shaped around your body.

Because at Body in Line, Pilates isn’t simply about what you do in the studio. It’s about helping you move through life with greater strength, confidence and understanding.

That’s what makes our approach different.

Hi, I’m Jaye 🤍

You may have noticed things looking a little different around here lately, so I thought it was probably time to introduce myself as the person now working behind the scenes at Body in Line.

I first started training with Amy because I was inspired by her passion for lifelong movement and her belief that Pilates should support people through every age, ability and stage of life.

And because building my own creative business apparently wasn’t enough of a challenge, I thought I might learn to teach Pilates too.

Somewhere along the way, I realised my real passion wasn’t becoming an instructor. It was helping brilliant people build businesses that allow their knowledge, ideas and impact to reach further.

Which brings me here.

I’m joining the Body in Line team to help shape the brand, share Amy’s incredible knowledge and bring her approach to movement to more people. I truly believe in what Amy has created and in the difference that thoughtful, evidence-led and genuinely personalised movement can make.

Amy remains the movement expert you know and trust. I’ll be helping bring everything she knows beyond the studio, turning the conversations, lessons and lightbulb moments that happen at Body in Line into content, education and some very exciting things to come.

So, if things are looking a little brighter, sounding a little louder or appearing on your feed more often, you now know who’s behind it.

I’m very excited to officially be part of Body in Line 💙
