Members,

A reminder our final club competition will be held on Sunday the 30th of November, briefing at 2.30pm with flying starting at 3pm.

After the competition a BBQ dinner will be held with presentation of awards.

As well as Club Champion award to be presented, the Al Wheat memorial award, the Bert Christoff memorial award, and the Wooden Spoon will also be presented. To achieve this we required members to nominate other member for the awards. Nominations required by this Wednesday the 26th of November .

The Al Wheat award is for best club person. For someone who has helped and contributed to activities around the club in the last 12 months.

The Bert Christoff Award is for someone who has made an achievement in aviation in the last 12 months.

The Wooden Spoon is a light hearted dig at something someone who has inadvertently not quite come up to par. Could be anything from transmitting on the wrong frequency, leaving the master on, trouble starting, mistaking position. The options are endless.

With the above award if you could nominate anyone you think meets the criteria. Just email in the peoples name and why you think they should be nominated for the award. You can nominate more than one person for each of the awards.

For the BBQ everyone is welcome. Bring anyone that might be interested. We just need to know numbers for catering before the night. Meat will be supplied for the BBQ, if everyone could just bring a salad to share on the night.

Hope to see as many people that can make it. Close enough for a Christmas drink.

JOHN KELLY
An inaugural member since the formation of the Midwest Aero Club in 1989…

Always been a committed club member, even when living away for a time

A hard doer, well known for pushing boundaries to get things done - which on occasion has brought him undone!

Speaking of boundaries being pushed, we have JK to thank for refurbishing part of the Club’s airside fence!

John is a consistent contestant in Club Competitions and a solid competitor… unafraid to point out any inaccuracies on the Judge’s part…

A frequent wooden spoon contender & winner… in fact the Club Newsletter used to have a segment called Kelly’s Corner to detail the latest exploits of JK & other members.

His long term commitment to the club reaches its peak on the 4th stubby…

Never short of an opinion…

Always in favour of what is good for the club and its members… and first to put his hand up for a Busy Bee etc whenever required.

“For being an inaugural member and consistent Club Contributor, longtime Vice President, Past Captain, Vice-Captain and Committee Member & Scholarship Sponsor,

It is my pleasure to Present John Kelly with Life Membership of the Midwest Aero Club… Congratulations John!
