Our Geraldton Women's Team is setting sail for the NBL1 West in 2027. Ready to take the helm?

We’re looking for a Head Coach to help build our women’s program and lead a team you KNOW our town will get behind! 🏀

There’s plenty to play for - backing Mid West talent, opening doors for women in basketball and giving local players the chance to don the blue and gold... all with the Buccs Nation in your corner 💙💛

Coached at elite representative, state or professional level? Know how to challenge your players, back them and get them working together? This could be your next move.

It’s a paid role, with the package negotiated based on your experience and qualifications.

A NEW ERA FOR WOMEN’S BASKETBALL IN GERALDTON BEGINS 🏀💙

The Geraldton Buccaneers are proud to announce Capricorn Metals Ltd as the Principal Foundation and Naming Rights Partner of our Women’s NBL1 West team, with MACA joining the program as a Foundation Partner.

Through significant three-year partnerships, Capricorn Metals and MACA will provide important backing for the Women’s program as we prepare to return to the NBL1 West competition in 2027.

This is about much more than putting a name on a team.

Together, we have an opportunity to create a sustainable elite pathway for female basketballers in regional WA, inspire the next generation of players, strengthen regional communities and raise awareness of employment and career opportunities here in the Mid West.

With Capricorn Metals progressing the Mt Gibson Gold Project and MACA playing a key role in its development, there is strong alignment between our organisations and a shared commitment to investing in the future of our region.

This is a major milestone in our journey towards becoming a two-team NBL1 West club – and an exciting step forward for women’s basketball in Geraldton.

A huge thank you to Capricorn Metals and MACA for believing in the vision and backing the future of the program.

Confirmed. The Geraldton Buccaneers will field a women's team in NBL1 West from 2027.
One club, two teams. And for the first time in the NBL1 era, women across the Mid West can play at this level without leaving home.
