PRO MEN RECAP - QUATRO MAUI PRO: THE SAMURAI STRIKES AGAIN!
4 x Ho’okipa legends battled it out in one of the most epic Finals! The Quatro Maui por 2026, first 5-Star event of the year, delivered an all-time showdown at Ho’okipa, with Bernd Roediger, Marcilio Browne, Antoine Martin and Morgan Noireaux, going head-to-head for the title.
With Maui trades, solid Hawaiian surf and a final packed with power, experience and pure local knowledge, the level was sky high from start to finish.
It was Roediger, the Hawaiian local hero, who rose above the field with a final score of 16.40, claiming his second WWT victory of the young season — following his win at the Puerto Rico 3-Star — and adding another chapter to his legendary relationship with this beach.
His decisive wave was something else entirely. Entering the critical section with full commitment, Roediger executed a taka into a one-handed turn deep under the lip, the sail briefly released as he carved with full rail pressure — a move that was simultaneously radical, functional, and breathtakingly stylish. Judges awarded it an 8.93. Many watching felt the number should have been higher.
"It's really hard to get into that level of just like carefree sailing," Roediger reflected after his win.
Marcilio Browne (Brazil) showed exactly why he’s one of the most consistent and respected riders at Ho’okipa, bringing together trademark style, precision and deep local knowledge to secure second place with 14.74. Right behind him, an absolutely on fire Antoine Martin pushed the level all the way, finishing just short on 14.63, a razor-thin margin that reflects just how close and intense the battle for the podium really was.
Antoine Martin (Guadeloupe) delivered arguably the single most talked-about maneuver of the entire event. In the Semifinal, Martin landed a no-handed goiter — releasing the sail completely mid-rotation — that drew gasps from the beach. Head judge Luis Escribano singled out the move as one that pushed the boundaries of scoring. "I think he was pushing the judges to score higher," Escribano said. The maneuver received 6.53 — a score that many felt undervalued what was one of the most technically demanding and visually stunning moves ever attempted in competition at Ho'okipa.
Morgan Noireaux (Hawaii) rounded out the podium in fourth with 13.50, but his words may have captured the day best: he described the level of sailing as some of the highest-performance windsurfing he had witnessed in a contest at Ho'okipa in a very long time.
This four finalist have been at least once Maui event Champions! Can you guess how many Ho'okipa tittles they won all together?
The new ladder and redemption format, where only the heat winner advances, working both in favor and against riders, opened the door to unexpected turns in the competition.
Robby Swift just missed out this time, stopping short of the last round after a run of strong results in Maui, consistently making finals in recent events. One of the standout performances came from Arthur Arutkin, who showed impressive consistency throughout the event and secured his best result ever at Ho’okipa.
