We’ve been busy planning our Spring School Holiday Program, and this time we’ve decided to branch out a little!

Across the two weeks there’ll be opportunities to game, create, try something new and have some fun with different sessions to suit different ages and interests.

Did you know?

Pikachu wasn't originally planned to be the face of Pokémon!

When Pokémon first launched, Clefairy was considered as one of the main characters to represent the series.

But Pikachu quickly became a fan favourite, and after being chosen as Ash's partner in the Pokémon animated series, the little yellow Pokémon became an international gaming icon!

Today, Pikachu is one of the most recognisable video game characters in the world.

Did you know?

The strange language spoken by characters in The Sims is called Simlish!

Instead of using a real language, the developers created Simlish so players wouldn't hear the same understandable conversations repeated over and over again.

Even better, real musicians have recorded versions of their songs entirely in Simlish for The Sims games!

Imagine becoming a famous singer and then heading into a studio to re-record your song in a language that doesn't actually exist. Gaming is magnificent nonsense sometimes!

Creative sessions designed for our younger makers, with fun, hands-on projects that are achievable without taking away the chance to experiment and create.

For older kids ready to try some of our more hands-on creative skills and make something they can be genuinely proud of.

Did you know? 👀

Space Invaders actually gets faster as you play!

But it wasn't originally designed that way!

When Space Invaders was created in 1978, the arcade machine had limited processing power. As you destroyed the aliens, there were fewer characters for the machine to display, allowing it to process the game faster.

The result? The remaining aliens started moving faster and faster!

The accidental increase in difficulty worked so well that it became part of the game!

Did you know? 👀

The PlayStation originally started life as a project between Sony and Nintendo!

The two companies were working together on a CD-based add-on for the Super Nintendo in the early 1990s. The partnership eventually fell apart, but Sony continued developing its own gaming system.

And in 1994, the original PlayStation was born!

A failed partnership accidentally helped create one of the biggest gaming brands in history. Sometimes things really don't go according to plan... and somehow work out anyway.
