While some might say golf is a calm sport, there is a certain air of excitement at the announcement of a playoff!
And this afternoons final round contenting for the Grass Green Championships played at Spalding Park Golf Club certainly shared that excitement!
On their final hole Joel Winkley from Spalding Park Golf Club and Nathan Woods from Bonville Golf Resort were both on 149 - resulting in a play off.
A sharp tee off Hole #1 followed by a crowd of enthusiastic supporters!
A second tee off Hole #6 with a eirie silence as the balls dropped.
A third tee off Hole #9, with an excellent long putt dropped by Joel resulting in a second play of Hole #1!
The thwack of the ball straight down the middle by both competitors. Joel played an amazing shot from the bunker and Nathan was onto the green from his second shot. It all came down to the putt... the crowd was silent in suspense with Nathan securing the win!
An applause of support erupted from the crowd, congratulations and commiserations were shared, a final hand shake before heading to the Clubhouse for a refreshing... and well deserved beer!
