Yin Yoga can look slow, gentle and passive from the outside

But beneath the stillness, something powerful is happening.

As we hold poses for time, we begin to work with the body’s connective tissues and fascia, helping to create space, hydration and ease throughout the body.

Many of us assume tightness is coming from our muscles alone, but often the fascia surrounding the muscles can create restriction too.

Yin gives the body time to respond differently—not by forcing change, but by allowing it.

And while all of this is happening physically, the nervous system is also receiving an opportunity to slow down, soften and rest.

If your body has been feeling tight, restricted or simply in need of some care, Yin Yoga might be exactly what you need.

Join me on Wednesdays at 5:30pm at Geraldton Yoga Studio and experience the benefits for yourself. 🩶

This week I went to a day spa for the first time in I-don’t-know-how-long. The moment I walked in, I felt cared for, nurtured, softer somehow… and I found myself wondering, why did I wait so long? 🤍

It got me thinking… maybe this is how you feel about yoga.

Maybe you used to attend a class. Maybe you once had a regular practice. But somewhere along the way, life got busy and you stopped.

So maybe this is your sign to come back.

To roll out your mat again. To reconnect with your breath, your body, your mind. To remember how good it feels to take care of yourself.

We’d love to welcome you back to your mat.
You can a class I teach .

Simple ways to be more connected to YOU.

1. Slow down enough to feel
Instead of rushing from task to task, pause throughout the day and notice your breath, posture, tension, and energy levels. Your body is always communicating — connection begins by listening.

2. Move gently and mindfully
Practices like yoga, walking, stretching, or somatic movement help you reconnect with how your body feels rather than how it looks. Slow movement helps soften nervous system stress and brings you back into yourself. Come to one of my studio classes to experience this.

3. Spend time away from screens
Constant stimulation can pull us out of our bodies and into our minds. Even ten minutes outside, barefoot on the earth, sitting in the sun, or noticing the wind can help ground you back into the present moment.

4. Notice your body’s yes and no
Your body often tells you what feels nourishing or draining before your mind catches up. Begin paying attention to tightness, heaviness, openness, ease, fatigue, or calm when making decisions or interacting with others.

5. Create small daily rituals
A cup of tea in silence, a few deep breaths before bed, morning stretches, self-massage, journaling, or a regular yoga class can become anchors that help you return home to yourself each day.

DM me about my classes.

Your nervous system called. It wants you to slow down.
Yin yoga is the antidote to our always-on lives.
Unlike more active styles of yoga, yin has you holding poses for 3–5 minutes at a time — seated or lying down, muscles relaxed, breathing through the intensity. The real work happens in the connective tissue: your fascia, ligaments, and joints.
The result? Deep release. Better flexibility. A quieter mind.
It’s not easy — stillness rarely is. But that’s exactly the point. Yin teaches you to sit with discomfort, soften instead of fight, and find space where you thought there was none.
Whether you’re an athlete looking to balance intense training, someone dealing with stress, or just curious about yoga — yin is worth trying.
One class and you’ll understand why people call it the most underrated practice in the wellness world.
Meet me on the mat, we'd evenings 5.30 pm
