Summary of restrictions

Can martial arts be practised

Currently, full-contact martial arts training and competitions may resume for people 18 years old and under.

Different restrictions apply in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire.

Outside of metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire:

• Indoor sports centres and venues (for example, gyms, health clubs, class-based fitness studios, dance studios) can open.

Multiple separate ‘zones’ may be created within a larger indoor space. To be considered a ‘zone’, the area must be for the exclusive use of a group and at least 200 metres squared. For example, a large indoor court could be separated into two spaces for different groups at each end.

For indoor exercise, no more than 20 participants are allowed in each separate space or zone, subject to the four-square metre rule, with up to 10 people in each group class (e.g. Zumba). If all participants are 18 years old or younger, no group limit applies. Participants should remain 1.5 meters apart from those they don’t live with.
o
• Large indoor venues can allocate separate spaces and have up to 20 people in each space and 10 people per group/activity. If all participants are 18 years or younger, no group limit applies. For example, a large indoor court can be separated into two spaces with different groups at each end.
