Another bright and sunny day for the second and final day of the Open Match Racing Regatta in Geelong this weekend.

After light winds on Day 1, today brought fresh gusty conditions that challenged the sailors’ boat and kite handling skills.

Congratulations to skipper Louis Tilly and crew from Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club - RPAYC who took out first place, our own Grace Hooper and team from RGYC coming in second, and Michael Parks and crew representing Sandringham Yacht Club for coming third.

Thank you also to Digby Taylor and crew from Mornington Yacht Club and our second RGYC team skippered by Jorja Mahoney for competing.

It was a fun weekend on the water and a great prelude to the Australian Sailing Australian Youth Match Racing Championship being held right here at RGYC from 21-25 October. We can’t wait to do it all again.

Day 2 of the Open Match Racing Regatta is set to get underway today. After some light winds yesterday, we’re hoping for some more breeze out on the water today.

Open Match Racing Regatta Day 1. Light winds today, saving plenty for day two, tomorrow.

Our Club fleet of RS21s has a new set of spinnakers, thanks to Honorary Life Member Tony Bull and Bull Sails/ Agents for Hyde Sails.

Bully dropped seven new kites off at the Club this morning, just in time for the start of this weekend's Open Match Racing Regatta.

We can't wait to see them in action!

Tonight, we’re cheering on two of our own at the 2026 Australian Sailing Victorian Sailing Awards, held at Sandringham Yacht Club.

Congratulations to Huw Provis, finalist for Volunteer of the Year, and Andrew King, finalist for Official of the Year.

Both Huw and Andrew make a huge contribution to sailing and our Club, and we’re thrilled to see their efforts recognised among the state’s sailing community.

Good luck tonight, Huw and Andrew! We’re all cheering you on.
