We wanted to share an update about the future of the club as we head toward the end of the year. With Jake moving to NSW for a new job and Ashlee and her fiancé expecting their first child in January, things are changing fast. As you can imagine, finding judo coaches is tough, and we haven’t been able to secure someone to take over the club in 2026.
The Y is still looking into options, but it’s unlikely a coach will be found before Term 1. If that changes, they’ll contact all current members.
This means the Geelong YMCA Judo Club will be closing for the foreseeable future. Thank you to every volunteer, coach, student, and parent who has helped make this club a home for the past 63 years.
Our last night of training will be Wednesday the 10th of December.
We’ll run a combined junior and senior kids’ class from 5pm to 6pm, followed by a BBQ from 6pm to 6:45pm as a chance to say thank you and goodbye. Parents and siblings are welcome.
Teens and adults can join us beforehand and then head into their usual class at 7pm.
We’d also love to invite all past members and friends of the club to join us for the BBQ and to say goodbye.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out either Jake or Ashlee.
