I wanna come play 🤩
Yes! Please play with us .
I am always bewildered by the great divide that is glaringly obvious when I take hoops out in public. Kids rush in. Adults hang back. Kids spin fearlessly. Adults skulk away sheepishly. .
When do we stop playing? And why?
Play is a vital part of our growth. Not just in childhood. Our social, emotional and spiritual development relies on experimentation; it requires us to have the courage to continuously show up to play time.
With great risk comes great reward. It can be intimidating to try something new or playful. But the only time we can fail is when we do nothing at all. Reaching out into the edges of your comfort zone and then beyond is a tantalising and liberating adventure. Don’t be that parent who is too scared to hoop and acts like play us only reserved for kids. Be that Mum who comes running when she hears the tunes and sees hoops, that Mum who flings her handbag onto the sands, rips off her extra layers and squeals “oh god I haven’t hooped for yearssss” while flailing all limbs in all directions.
