The Gawler Central community is deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Club Life Member, Dean Tobitt.
Deanโs contribution and impact on our club are nothing short of legendary. His service and legacy will forever be a part of who we are. No words can truly capture the depth of influence Dean has had on Gawler Central Football Club.
A former player and coach, Dean transformed our club through his unwavering commitment to junior development. A seven-time Colts Premiership coach, he was instrumental in developing countless young players who went on to shape our clubโs future.
Dean also served as Club Secretary for 24 years, including a remarkable 16-year continuous stretch and contributed in every area imaginable - from line marking to taking A Grade stats. That was Dean - no job too small, always giving his all.
He was awarded Life Membership of the Gawler Central Football Club and remains the only person to have Life Membership in both the Football and Cricket Clubs - a testament to his extraordinary dedication to our community. The Senior Colts BLGFA Best on Ground Medal in the Grand Final proudly carries his name, recognising the enormous mark he left on junior football.
Humble to the core, Dean embodied everything it means to be a true club person. Our club, community, and the entire association are all better for his lifetime of contribution, and we are deeply saddened by his passing. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Tobitt family. Our club is forever indebted to Dean for his service, his leadership, and his friendship.
The club will look to recognise and celebrate Deanโs life in the coming period. For a man who gave everything to Gawler Central, no tribute will ever feel enough - his legacy will live on through our club forever.
