A couple of weeks ago, we were back in Gapuwiyak for the school holidays, and it was so good to return to this special place for Next 9. 💙🏀

We had an amazing few days having fun, competing, and always getting better together.

Our focus was on the fundamentals of the game; defence, shooting, hand placement, ball handling, ball protection, and of course, playing. We believe strong fundamentals are the foundation of every great player, but we also know that players improve by playing the game.

That’s why we encourage every young hooper to explore, learn, make mistakes, compete, and discover new ways to grow through basketball.

The atmosphere and energy in Gapuwiyak was incredible as always. Every time we visit a community, we’re inspired by the willingness to learn, the focus, and the love for the game. This trip was no different.

Basketball means so much to the kids in these remote communities, and we’re privileged to be able to share the experience, the joy, and the excitement with all of you.

To all the young hoopers - you have so much to show the world through the game we all love. Keep working hard, keep getting better, enjoy every moment of the journey, and never stop believing in yourselves. 🌏❤️🏀

A huge thank you to East Arnhem Regional Council and the Gapuwiyak community for welcoming us and making us feel at home. We can’t wait to be back!

What an incredible week at the 2026 Arnhem Sports Carnival in Galiwin’ku!

Thank you to Shepherdson College for hosting and inviting Next 9 to be involved with the 2026 Arnhem Sports event. It was amazing to see remote schools from across East Arnhem Land come together, compete with great sportsmanship, build friendships, and create lifelong memories.

To all the student-athletes, you should be proud. You gave it your all, represented your schools and communities with pride, and showed what the spirit of sport is all about. Keep working hard—great things are ahead!

📍A couple of weeks ago, Next 9 had the privilege of spending time at Laynhapuy Homelands Makarrata Boarding School. What an incredible experience! 🔥

A huge congratulations to all the students, from the youngest learners to the boarding students, for their outstanding effort and positive attitude. Your energy, dedication, and willingness to keep improving were inspiring to see.

A big thank you to the community Elders for the warm welcome and to Makarrata Boarding School for making this visit possible.

Keep having fun, working hard, competing, learning, and getting better every day! 💪🔥

Next 9 x Break’n Barrierz – Galiwin’ku Week! 🔥🏀🎤🕺

What an epic week on Galiwin’ku with the staff and students at Shepherdson College!

Next 9 and Break’n Barrierz teamed up to deliver a full week of basketball workshops, dance sessions, and a music video project that had the young people fully engaged and giving their best.

The energy built each day, finishing with an end-of-week comp and celebration where the students stepped up, showed leadership and really pushed their skills.

A huge thank you to the students, staff and community for welcoming us in.

During the September/October school holidays Next 9 was fortunate to team up with Active Youth & Communities to deliver basketball clinics in Yirrkala and Gunyangara Communities. Packed with skill-building, leadership, and friendly competition the programs were a hit with kids and youth of all ages🔥🏀

It was incredible to see so many young people getting involved, learning new techniques, and showing great teamwork on and off the court.

A huge thanks to the Active Youth & Communities team in Yirrkala and to for funding this program and helping us bring more opportunities to youth across East Arnhem. 🙌
