Huff and puff.

How often do you fit aerobic exercise into your training program?

How often should you? Well, the more the better.

Why? First and foremost to look after your heart and your cardiovascular system, helps manage blood glucose levels and not a bad way to destress or get good work done at a lower intensity with less demand on recovery.

How long? Depends on the time you have available, but thirty minutes two to three times a week is a great start.

How hard? Hard enough your heart rate is around 120-140 beats per minute but not so hard you couldn’t hold a brief conversation is a good guide.

Our members are currently in their third week of our strength block and although not everybody’s goal is to increase “maximal strength”, most, if not all will benefit from increasing general strength.

The program is simple, by no means is it easy. This is often the formula of the best strength programs. Limited exercises, limited reps, higher sets and plenty of rest.

Big moves, big weights need big rest.

Some of our members are tracking progress for one rep max lifts, some are pleased with steady increases, some finding with strength improvements are less pain.

There are many modalities or styles of training, and each style offers many different benefits depending on the persons goals.

Generally speaking however, strength leads to a little more muscle mass, this is one of our greatest assets in longevity and a longer span of healthy years- this in itself is the main reason we all roll through “strength training” to some degree each year, and most likely is why you should try it too, in addition to your training goals 💪🏼
