‼📣2026 MACROB TEAM UPDATE📣‼

Croquet Australia are pleased to announce 3 important updates to the Australian team for the prestigious 2026 MacRobertson Shield, to be held in the UK from July 24 to August 9, 2026.

We welcome Lachlan Berryman into the travelling team to replace Ed Wilson who unfortunately withdrew, and we are excited to announce the addition of James Carslisle to the travelling group as team manager to replace Peter Landrebe who withdrew from the travelling team as non-playing captain/manager for personal reasons.

We are fortunate that James happens to be in the UK prior to the "Mac" to compete in the British Open Singles and Doubles, and is pairing up with Alison Sharpe from NSW to fly the flag for Australia 🇦🇺🦘

These changes also now elevate Stephen Forster to team captain in addition to being already nominated as flag bearer. This will be a proud moment for Stephen as he prepares to compete in the MacRob for the 7th occasion!

Keep an eye out for some exciting team content we have planned to celebrate and acknolwedge the team as they prepare to represent Australia next month!

2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣ UPCOMING EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT‼️📣

Croquet Australia are excited to announce the National Event Calendar for the second half of 2026‼️

There is SO MUCH to look forward to in 2026 and it all starts with the "September Carnival" of events starting with the GC Gold Medal - followed by the GC Singles for both women and men, before we present the much anticipated state versus state Interstate Shield (ISS) where the best players from each state come together to battle it out for the BIG prize 🏆 Defending Champions NSW will have high hopes, but they will be in enemy territory this year and we have it on good authority the Victorian team are already in training!

Keep up-to-date with all event information including opening dates for registrations for all events listed. Please keep in mind ALL registration events on the calendar will follow a consistent formula of opening 60 days prior and entries closing 30 days prior to all events requiring player registration.

‼📣BREAKING NEWS - FRANKS WINS GC OPEN SINGLES TITLE📣‼

After a week of blue skies and relatively warm playing conditions, finals day on Sunday brought some rain but all the players (and officials) battled bravely and some great matches were observed throughout the final days play!

The first matches started on time at 8am with the players having to contend with the drizzling conditions and rain jackets were the order of the day.

Tournament favorite, Levi Franks (NZ) faced a strong challenge from Felix Gelman White (Vic) in the Final, and it was Felix who played strongly to take the opening game 7-5, before Franks took control and peeled off 3 straight games to prevail 3-1 in the best of 5 contest.

Croquet fans unable to be at Cairnlea for the event were treated to a livestream of the final - coordinated with skill and expertise by Karen Bisley with support from Jamie, Ethan and Samuel Gumbrell, while Addison Matthews together with some guest commentators kept us enthralled with a play-by-play commentary from start to finish!🎙

Many thanks to Tournament Manager, Janet Dickinson and Tournament Referee, John van der Touw and all the tournament officials for supporting the event and players this week👏👏👏

A very special shoutout also to the small army of amazing volunteer helpers who were expertly led by tournament manager - Janet Dickinson during the entire week of competition!🙏🙏🙏 Many thanks and appreciation to - Addison Matthews (live commentary), Karen Gumbrell and her family for the livestreaming, Sue Baker (Wonthaggi), Sue Downie (Traralgon), Caroline Phipps (Moorabinda WA), Julie Beasley (Warragul). These people played and/or volunteered for the entire tournament and helped make it such a success. Thanks also to Brimbank Croquet club members, family members of players who assisted throughout the tournament made managing so much easier, all assistance is greatly appreciated!

Congratulations to all the placegetters in the 27th Australian Golf Croquet Singles Championships:
Winner - Levi Franks (NZ)
R-Up - Felix Gelman White (Williamstown, VIC)
Third - Ethan Gumbrell (Canberra, NSW)
4th - Richard Hingst (Williamstown, VIC)
