FRESHWATER Tennis Club 🏆 FINALS of the
A-GRADE Tuesday night season 1 of 2026
wouldn't have been the same without the rain interruptions tonight ....
After a hugely successful first season of 2026 we can announce the WINNING team of Greg ELSLEY, Cody DUNSTAN and David CASPER, our brewer extrodinaire. They thoroughly deserved the victory after leading from start to finish over 15 weeks and went into the finals as big favourites against team David McNaughton.
Congratulations to Greg ELSLEY, the team captain and Number 1, who went through the entire season as the only undefeated singles player over the 16 rounds of 🎾 Tennis.
Despite the weather we all enjoyed the tennis, food 🍲 and drinks🍻 and celebrated our fantastic Tennis club as we always do...

MVP of the Season was Bevan SOPER who will return to a number 1 player again next season, where he belongs, and lifted his team to 3rd place.
HUGE Thanks to every player and valued reserve who graced our courts this season....
We will soon be ready for SEASON 2 of 2026...

We have confirmed the new Dates for our revived FTC Men's and Women's Championships.
Out of respect to other local Tennis competitons we altered our dates and are happy to announce that:
Saturday September 12th & Sunday 13th will be our Event weekend.

The following Friday night the 18th we will Celebrate our historic 70th Anniversary at our current location and over 100 years of FTC.

Here's an article from the Cairns post in 1988 mentioning the first court laid at Freshwater State School in 1925.
More reasons for us to Celebrate our club's Anniversary of over 100 years and 70 years at our current location.

Our Celebratory event is currently being planned and the OFFICIAL date will soon be announced following our revival of our Club Championships in September ..
