I started the morning being tea lady with my friend Ricky from & the who were conducting tours to show the devastation caused by mining giant Alcoa in OUR Jarrah Forests.

These forests will NEVER grow back as they were and almost none of the proceeds of the mines stays in WA.

There are so many species of plants and animals in the Northern Jarrah Forest only found in this location, and destroying forests amidst climate change is INSANITY.

Follow Ricky and the , donate money, give your time, protest, vote - do anything to help preserve these precious forests .

I am moved to action by the thought of my grandchildren asking where it all went. 😔

So Exciting 😍

We are only the second owners of our 1969 home.

We are stripping back the 1990’s reno and keeping the gorgeous accents from 69.

Crippled by the decision making, I decided to think about how I wanted to feel in the spaces, what we love to do in our home and to honour the love and work put into our home at creation. The stone work on our feature walls & the terrazo stairs are wonderful.

I love to think of the hand on the trowel steadily building our double brick home. I love to imagine the family who lived here before us for 40 years.

Tile stripping starts tomoz !

Avalon March 2026

For 30 years I’d eagerly listened to the stories of Avalon, the home place of our dear friend Steve and his family.

I’d visited Sydney many times and swooned at her natural beauty not knowing her sister Avalon was paradise - an hour north.

We spent a week in childlike wonder retracing the early life of our friend in his hometown of Avalon.

Perched on the southern end of Avalon Beach in a 1960’s apartment, we slept and woke to the roaring surf.

At dawn we pottered down to the ocean pool or grabbed boogie boards for a quick play in the waves.

Long walks into Claireville admiring lush bush, steep winding cliffs and incredible homes.

Steve shared all his stories of growing up, riding his bike over the big hill with his surfboard to the break at Avalon Beach.

He showed us his family home where Koalas sat in trees on his front lawn and described amazing adventures finding deep caves on the cliffs.

We discovered the places where Steve and his friends went to see early Australian bands like INXS.

Our favourite day was out on the Pittwater. In a hired tinny, we explored the waterway as Steve shared stories of his childhood - fishing, camping holidays on his family boat and becoming a boat builder.

We pulled up at a jetty at the Newport Arms for a bucket of prawns and a rosè. We jumped in the water for a dip at a secluded cove and Steve showed us where they filmed Puberty Blues!

We ate delicious food everywhere we went and shared precious time with his family.

Avalon has so much natural beauty coupled with small town friendliness.

I love this part of getting older, going on an adventure to discover more about a longterm dear friend.

This is exactly why I want to stay fit and healthy as I age, to have the strength and mobility to climb hills, swim in waterways and enjoy new adventures.

Confessions of An Empty Nester

My latest Substack writing piece is a reflection on the seismic change of children leaving the home.

This weekend I am sorting through shelves and cupboards getting ready for more changes in our home, so a perfect time to publish this piece.

Yesterday I melted into folders of my children’s primary school work & boxes of old photos.

It reminded me how QUICKLY time passes. Oof.

I’ve included a few snippets from my essay over at Substack.

If you would like to read the whole piece pop over to Substack and look for Sarah Kate Wallwork ( that’s my real name !). Maybe even subscribe and give me some comments or feedback!

Last night I was part of the choir in Perth Festival show - Promises & Wild Beasts.

I’ve included vids of our choir warming up before the gig. What a group! I sing with my choir friends from my daughter Stella’s choir. I sing with my sister Anna and peeps from her two choirs. We join WAAPA choir singers and my friend’s kid!

We are led by the amazing Jordan Anthony.

The show sold out in 47 seconds and lucky punters. The Mama Kin Spender team have created a show that threads story & song tracing the journey of a relationship. They deliver raw energy & emotion with delicious words & extroadinary music.

This is my second festival gig ( last year dancing at the Adelaide Festival) and what a wonderful way to begin the new shape of my life. Singing it in !!!!

And as I watch my friend stomping, drumming & calling her story in with mammoth courage - I’m reminded to fully inhabit my own. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thanks Hannah for pics. ❤️

Sooooooooooooooo,

BIG changes in 2026.

I’ve wrapped, celebrated & loved my business to it’s end.

My nest will have a renovation & will also empty. 🥺

In 2026 I will be working as a Youth Worker and a model.

On substack I will be writing about my life renovation, renovation etc etc. Come join me, subscribe or follow me !

For now, the fish & crabs are calling me. I have a stack of good books, my best mates & a bottle of my favourite Rose.

You will find me in a 70s sun dress, oversized cane hat by the Murray River, proudly admiring my tinny in the boatshed.

Thankyou to everyone who supported me on my Bodyschool journey, clients, friends, family and you. I feel so lucky. ❤️

End of an Era Continued …..

We ate delicious food, drank margueritas and danced to DJ Carla Steele on my deck under a full Gemini moon!

The surprise speeches blew my mind. They were reflective and kind and others were side splitting hilarious!

I also reflected on my 18 years in the Bodyschool business.

I thanked my family, the incredible members and my beautiful friends for all their wisdom and support.

I thank all of you who have supported me on my journey or come to my classes. 🙏🏽

What did I hope we all learnt ?

That the approach to a good life is the same as good health.

If you show up consistently to the things that are important to you, just chipping away - you will build something strong.

And that health is a constellation of components including community & connection.

I finish this business on a HIGH. I’ve made lifelong friends & hopefully encouraged people to love & move their bodies.

I have 2.5 weeks left of classes and then a summer break, recharging for all the adventure in 2026.

End of an era ❤️🥺

In February I wrote a piece on my substack about transitions after stumbling across a snakeskin on an early morning walk.

I’ve spent a large part of this snakey year exhausted and agitated as I’ve rubbed myself against the peeling edges of change.

I became the queen of equivocation. I was a peeled apple, waiting for the bite, exposed and vulnerable.

But what if ? What if I regret this decision ? Why change when things are good ? You are TOO OLD to change!!!

I made the decision to end my Bodyschool business after 18 years. 2026 was calling for freedom from the relentless dedication & commitment of small business. 2026 was calling for taking some chances, flipping the table, creating space for opportunity, stepping away from safety & familiarity.

After a long wet winter & months & months of WWE inside my own head I was physically exhausted - I’d burnt through all my iron & oestrogen and needed a pit stop before the announcement & finale.

It’s the end. But also the beginning of the next chapter.

I spent so many years in backyards befriending dogs, dog s**t and families as I worked as an outdoor personal trainer in client’s backyards.

I inovated by creating many different programs including Spring Clean Your Health, Fitmas, March into Shape, Personal Coaching, Teenage Classes, Mums & Bubs and a Beginner’s Class.

I moved to all Outdoor Group Training at many locations around Fremantle - my favourite being South Beach under the morning pink sky, observing all the early morning characters, dogs, birds and horses.

A group of us at Bodyschool started a climate circle and from here built our own community garden which has been a huge joy in my life. ❤️

Over the past 10 years ( with the help of whatsap community ) I’ve really worked on building community and cohesion between all my classes.

We’ve been able to share stories, gigs, skills, holiday tips, real estate, house sitting, dog sitting and sell and share items for sale.

We’ve also dug in and helped out clients in need with fundraisers and projects.

On Friday night I held the finale Bodyschool Xmas party and it was INCREDIBLE.
