Something we see consistently: a held setup is often harder than the exercise that follows it.

For bodies with hypermobility and POTS, there is a physiological reason for that. Proprioceptive receptors in lax connective tissue send inconsistent signals, so the nervous system works harder to maintain a static position than it appears to from the outside. Add POTS into that picture, and static standing also removes the muscle pump, the primary mechanical tool the body uses to push blood back toward the heart.

Movement helps both of these things simultaneously. It is not a workaround. It is what these bodies are built to need.

If you are a teacher, friend or family member supporting people with hypermobility and POTS, please do yourself a favour and be kind. They are trying their best, even if their best is different to yours ✌🏽💙

Dysautonomia affects the autonomic nervous system: the part of the body that manages heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, and digestion automatically.

When it is not working as expected, the effects can be felt across the whole body.

It is not rare. It is commonly missed, misdiagnosed, or dismissed. And it frequently overlaps with EDS, hypermobility, and MCAS.

Many people we see at Go Slo spent years being told their symptoms were anxiety, deconditioning, or not real.
They were not.

Swipe through for what dysautonomia actually means, and why it matters for movement.

The thing that actually changes is not the exercises.

It is that the session is built around what the body is doing today, not what it did last week or what a program assumes it should be doing.

For POTS clients who have spent months or years being pushed past what their system could manage, that shift is significant.

Not because the movements are dramatically different. But because the session is responding to the person in front of us rather than running a predetermined plan regardless of what the body is communicating.

Over time, that builds something that generic programming rarely does.

A sense that movement is something the body can approach rather than something it has to brace against.

If that sounds different from what you have experienced before, it is meant to.

We don’t always need to pus through fatigue.

For those with chronic illness, fatigue can be a debilitating symptom.

Of course, we encourage movement.

But not at a detriment to your life ✌🏽💙

5 Things That Make Go Slo Studio Different:

When people walk into Go Slo Studio for the first time, they usually say “this feels different.” Here’s why:

1. Progress over perfection
You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to keep showing up. One good session is better than none. We celebrate consistency, not extremes.

2. We meet you where you’re at
We don’t assume you’re practising 5 times a week. You might be juggling kids, a full-time job, and broken sleep. Your practice should fit your life, not compete with it.

3. Movement builds you up, not breaks you
You won’t find pushing through pain here. We practise smart, we practise safely, and we train for long-term strength.

4. You’re not just a number
You’ll be greeted by name. You’ll be taught with care. You’ll be part of a community that wants you to win.

5. You can show up exactly as you are
Tired or energised. Returning to movement after years away or recovering from injury. Just tired of fitness spaces that make you feel “not enough.”

Just last week, one of our members said: “This is the only place where I don’t feel judged. I actually enjoy moving my body again.”

That’s what we’re here to create.
